Summary0003836: "stale PathEstimator-cache?" warning and desyncs
DescriptionSometimes at gamestart players get warnings like:
[f=0000000] Warning: [DESYNC WARNING] path-checksum 07450bd8 for player 0 (malric) does not match local checksum b451076e; stale PathEstimator-cache?

Not sure when it started but does happen since some time:
http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=27815&p=516778&hilit=stale#p516778 Mar 2012

http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=27963&p=518804&hilit=stale#p518804 April 2012

It was usually ignored because it never caused a real desync.
Until it seemed to be cause for desyncs in xta: http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=3809
Additional InformationDue to posts like
http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=30182&hilit=rapid+corruption&start=0#p539879 thought maybe it is a BA/XTAchecksum problem?

With Godde I tried this:
1) delete path cache
2) play xta (now works)
3) play ba (in hope it would somehow corrupt the cache)
4) did not desync though

Would it help if desynced players upload their cache\path files for the map, to compare?

infolog.txt of a desyncing and a syncing player would help...

the question is: how/why did the players get a "broken" path cache file?

Not sure what you mean but mantis 3809 has infologs of two players from same game:

infologs don't help :-|

checksums of the game & map archive are the same in both infolog.txts, so it has to be a different pathcache file i guess...

note error at end:

Error: Spring: Incorrect/Missing content: Could not load startpicture from file bitmaps/loadpictures/fire_carpet.jp2

maybe some problem because something (rapid, os,..) does not like the jp2/jpg typo?

after downloading the .sdz, could play normal

jp2 is not supported on all platforms, this is why an error is printed in 95.0 / is marked as deprecated.

note: "checksum 0x1" error isn't really an error, the autohosts just don't have the checksum.

should be fixed in current develop & 95.0
