malric and me tried to find out what causes desyncs.
in first games he desyncs very quickly (1 to 2 minutes)
then we turned off the gaia animals = no desync
then when used cheat and /give to spawn animals = desync!

So it seems that the animals make it desync (at least in some cases, since they seem to work for other players)

The desync happens no matter if the animal was spawned in LOS of malric or not.

my replays and infolog from these testgames are in this file:

The files (unitdef,script etc) of the animals in XTA are all named critter_* for example scripts\critter_duck.lua

instead of Helium we tried a different host and there it desynced too, after the ducks were cheated in:
