Summary0001914: Spring freezes at end of game
DescriptionI've had this problem intermittently for some time now. I forget whether it occurred under Vista, but now I'm using Linux with ATI.

The game will end, with the box of stats telling you which team won. From that point, the game is frozen. I have to CTRL-F1 back to a virtual console and kill the process. A regular kill does nothing, it has to be kill -9. The console display is then garbled until I CTRL-F7 back to X. (That last part is probably the ATI drivers, not Spring.)

This has been an intermittent problem, not very frequent so easy to ignore. But now I just noticed that it appears to be repeatable if I watch a replay of a game that froze.

I've attached a replay that should reproduce the crash with 0.81.2.1. Goes for 20min, has an interesting conversation in which another bug causes everybody to kick a player but a server bug kicks the wrong one because they were in coop.

The current version won't play the old demo.

I haven't seen it happen yet with 0.82.5.1, but I haven't been playing as actively either.

I've just reconfirmed this bug with 0.81.2.1 and the attached demo. So upgrading the ATI drivers didn't fix it.

I've attached the infolog.txt from that version. The log was terminated by a kill -9 as root.. there might have been text in the buffers that didn't get flushed to disc.

I could compile as debug, but as this doesn't crash I wouldn't expect to see a stacktrace etc.

as the bug (?) won't be fixed in the old version... please use the current version, if the bug can reproduced with the current version please reopen! :)

sorry, we are only a few devs and can only support one stable version.

anyhow thanks for your reports, please continue reporting!

as a note: ati's opengl drivers have many bugs :-/ often it helps to reduce graphic details...

[ 69651] GML error: Sim thread called gmlDeleteLists (LUA)
[ 69651] GML error: Sim thread called gmlDeleteLists (LUA)
[ 69651] Error in Shutdown()

maybe disabling some widgets or using normal instead of MT spring would help.
anyway, i too think this report should be closed. this is something for the forum.
also remember to buy NV if you like OpenGL and Linux, next time. (pro your personal mental health) ;-)

Can I get it to log extra info regarding these GML errors?

I'll see if I can reproduce this by replaying the bad demo and turning off some widgets.

I bought NV all the time until the N-Force motherboard. Constant hardware lockups, only in Linux, that were prevented by blowing very cold air over the mobo. So then I bought ATI thinking they had better Linux support. Woops :)

I can confirm that this still happens when viewing a replay with the single-threaded version.
