This typically means it is related to what other objects were drawn before the unit in question, as this changes depending on camera parameters.

Yes in both cases, tested with 15ef1622815743783882e776dd4755dfdc601e0c. See teamcolor3.jpg.

Actually, the trigger is not so much unit distance/camera position but how many teams have units in view: If you only see the units of one team, they'll be the proper color. If you see the units of two teams, or more, they'll all be the same color, picked at random between the two or more teams. It's like there only can one be team color drawn at once.

Icons, both on minimap, and in main view zoomed out, are always the proper team color.

Shards of exploding unit are also limited to one team color if more than one team in view, but strangely they don't pick the same color than live units.

Happens in 0.81.2 and 0.81+.0.0 0.81.0-328-g0c8ae78, with and without shadows, with and without advanced unit shading.

Back in 0.81.1.3 using the advanced unit shading would fix it. But not anymore in 0.81.2.

Probably fixed for real now, but reopen if you encounter it again. If you do, be sure to mention the EXACT settings under which the bug triggers (advanced unit shading on/off, shadows on/off, etc).
