Summary | 0000118: Feature Request: "Free Interceptor" behavior.
Description | Very simply, I'd like to be able to assign the "Interceptor=1" TDF tag to weapons that are not guided missiles that must be built/stockpiled. Like, say, lasers. Right now, weapons must almost exactly match OTA's anti-nuke to make use of this behavior, which really limits certain kinds of gameplay. In addition, I'd like the ability to name the weapon that gets Intercepted. I realise that this sub-request this is probably asking a lot, as I have no idea how/when the name of the weapon is getting stored, or even if Spring stores the weapon name, and the practical issues of how much CPU load is increased by having to sort the projectiles every time they enter the sphere defined by the Coverage value is probably a killer... but it'd be much, much cooler, in my opinion, if different weapons could intercept each other, and we modders could do the load-balancing in terms of performance, by limiting the availability of such things where appropriate. I was going to have an Anti-Archer armed with an interceptor weapon in NanoBlobs as a counter to my Archer archetype, but it's simply impractical, given the current limitations. I've built a kludgey workaround to provide similar outcomes, but it's not ideal.

This would be excellent. If categories could be set up, IE "targetable1" for the weapon and "interceptor1" for the interceptor, that would be bloody brilliant. Nay, that would kick ass. |

I'm for it as well. When BTech for Spring gets to a playable form, We're going to need a way to make AMS (anti-missile gatling gun) work. |
