Summary | 0005864: Allow gunship total speed to be limited by maxVelocity | ||||||||
Description | Currently gunships that traverse cliff terrain in Spring are snapped to the minimum altitude require to be above terrain without having their horizontal speed limited. In effect, this creates an instantaneous massive increase in unit velocity where the unchanged and unlimited horizontal speed of the unit is augmented by potentially unlimited vertical velocity needed to snap to the top of the cliff. In an ideal world, the gunships could be forced to climb this altitude on their own, using a share of their velocity and/or acceleration to thrust upwards - and consequently, losing some, or even all of their horizontal speed, during the climb. The same could apply on descent, with the unit being largely unable to move horizontally until it's done descending to operational altitude; or they could glide instead, slowly losing altitude in normal ways. | ||||||||
