Summary | 0005380: CheckPieceNormals warning level is too low which results in infolog flooding
Description | CheckPieceNormals routinely floods the infolog with warnings such as: [f=0002406] Warning: [CheckPieceNormals] piece "flare2" of model "objects3d/tankymctankface.s3o" has 3 (of 3) null-normals! It will either be rendered fully black or with black splotches! This is highly undesirable a because it causes pointless chat flood. Much of the time it is reporting pieces that are firepoints (such as in this example) which are a piece that is a single polygon, used to emit effects or weapons. If this warning is to be kept in the engine, then I would like to request that it take place in the infolog before the first gameframe instead of cropping up whenever a model is loaded. This will solve a lot of the frustration. There is no need for players to ever see this and in many cases, as mentioned above, it's a non-error error. As it is, it results in chatspam.
