Summary | 0004201: spring.exe menu: Show path to infolog
Description | show path to infolog.txt in the "beach" screen
Additional Information | Sometimes players can find the infolog.txt from their online games but not the infolog from direct-launched spring.exe. (or other way around) Usually nobody wants to search whole HDD because it takes so long. Finding both infologs can be important to figure out what springsetting.cfg files are used, as that can also differ between lobby and direct launch. So this could help solve the "I set advmapshading=0 in spring.exe but in online games the map is still white" questions.

how would that help??? The problem is the lobby that uses --config w/o passing it to unitsync & SL's springsettings! So ppl need to know the _lobbies_ enforced cfg location. |

Yes, that was the problem: Notalobby uses --config to pass some config. Even if that that config is known, editing config via spring.exe "edit setting" is easier because one does not have to know the excact spelling etc like when using text editor. So if they could find that other config they could delete it. (=make spring use the lobby-config) Also watching replays by starting them non-lobby way, one must find the infolog for that too. > So ppl need to know the _lobbies_ enforced cfg location. Yes, as said sometimes it is the other way around too. But do not really know a engine solution for that except showing it on loadscreen. But loadscreen now are mods job. |

Imo lobbies should not be allowed to pass config files to the engine, they should edit the one their currently selected engine is using. |

FYI: current springlobby (since 0.173 or so) doesn't use --config any more. |

notalobby appearently still does. blablub, whether it is lobby problem or not, i remember at least 2 situations where it would have been helpful to have this. |
