One step closer to Power Armour...

From the guy who brought you the anti-grizzely bear suit now comes this
Could you imagine a squad of soldiers in that walking down a street?
It'd scare the crap out of any insurgents for starters.

It LOOKS cool, but I'm sure they're are problems with it that we can't think up without putting it into practice. Remember how insurgents have this nasty way of thinking up ingenious plans to defeat higher tech devices with lower tech work around.

Or sheer numbers

Or suicidal fanaticism...

Oh do't get me wrong, I'm sure it'll prove to have way too many flaws for use in general combat operations.
I doubt it'll stop armour piercing bullets and 18 kilos is too heavy for running around in all day let alone the loss of mobility it'd entail.
But it a) Looks damn cool and b) Would be very useful for specalised things like house sweeping, or SWAT teams.

So it works right? Stops bullets, protects agasint nades?

Man, awesome. Can't wait untill it get's the motors like a real exoskeloten (ala halo, or something) and those 18 kilo dosen't matter anymore.

18 kilos??? psssshhhhh

I used to lug around about 10 in the gear I wore on the football field, and it was like clothing.. to wear about 8 more...

(allready wearing about 23lbs, and to strap on 17 more to be BULLETPROOF!!, at 40 lbs total) lol, would be a BLESSING and a cakewalk to handle...

when I was 17, playing Varsity ball, I could run 3 miles, full sprint, after 3 hours of practice, in full gear, helmet and all, in North Houston heat... 102 deg F + the humidity index... (about 115 degrees) and still catch my breath and be ready to go again in about 5-10 mins..

to walk around all day in that suit... HAH! easy.

and the military trains you ALOT harder than Highschool Football EVER will...

I say kickass, it's better than the North Hollywood shootout of like 96 whenever that was, those two checklozslovakian (sp? :-p ) guys that got in the firefight with the cops wearing head to toe body armor of kevlar.. and that shit IS HEAVY!. they were only about 40-60% armored and weighed in at 65-80lbs armor.. and god knows with the multiple rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammo... they did it, why can't the military?

long story short, I LIKE IT!

Ill believe this guys suit works when I see a video of it working.. as it were I have trouble believing a guy with few resources was able to develop something like that and have it weigh in at only 18kg..

The kind of ceramic plates neccessary to stop higher powered bullets (see not handguns) have to be VERY dense, they also have the problem of ceramics being an extremely non elastic material which means once a ceramic plate stops a bullet, its done, the strength has been compromised significantly and it will need to be replaced, There is a reason bullet proof vests and high power body armor is so heavy.. for this guy to develop lightweight dense ceramics that can stop rifle caliber weapons at even medium range and weigh next to nothing.. is suspicious to me..

I would also question the mobility of the suit, Im not talking about it weighing you down, but say a baseball glove doesnt weigh much but it certainly limits what you can do with your hand..

possible problems:
1) temperature. black full body armour in the desert. they would probably cook alive.
2) retarded features; will probably break when the armour is attacked, and cause nuicsance.
3)grit: sand and dust could damage the armour
4) water; could you swim in that thing
5) is the facegaurd safe?

but still, WOW.

eh I want a video of that suit deflecting/resisting bullets.. bats, and punching and some fancy lasers fans and other stuff does not make that suit functional in the manner that matters most, which is deflecting schrapnel or bullets, and bladed weapons.. can it do that.. do you have a video of it doing that, because honestly I really lost respect for him when he said he used Halo, and starwars to do research... FFS..

One Word - Mushrooms...

There is only the Heat, the sweat and you in this suit... Conserved Fungi

And lets talk about the Powersource - that is always a funny theme. And the small view range...

And lets talk about the Psychological Warfarefactor - as a (mightlaterCombatant) Civilian in a Civil War - would you trust these guys or throw something on them...

Did i mention that the Suit might remain intakt, but with you inside beeing thrown against a wall, break your Bones ?...

This thing is the AK of Today...
but indeeed Cool... if they ever Remake StarshipTroopers - i hope they use this Suit..

Fang, insperation from vidio games and movies is not a bad thing. You see something on a screen and think "I'm going to see if I can build something like that."

He also got tips from a ton of millitary personal, asking them what THEY wanted. That laser sight on the helmet for snipers is a really cool idea. They should start putting those on NORMAL helmets as soon as possible.
