Moderating the moderators

Post by _YAN_ »

I had some problems with 1 of the moderators in the lobby...
I spammed just a few lines and the guy muted me for several hours..
I would like to see some guidlines written down about what is allowed and what is not for a moderator.
i think hes reaction was way to exagurated and so i think adding some basic "what do tos" in a certain situation for moderators would be a good idea to prevent abuse...

Not really. There are already moderator guidelines, you folks just don't get to see em. The action taken was WELL within his brief.

I think it may be valid for people to complaint about moderation and that that route must be kept open. Of course, it also doesn't means that the complainee is right.

And we do have guidelines, a private forum for discussion and somewhere where we report more serious actions. Since all moderators are very well chosen (:P), tend to follow the guidelines and tend to act moderatedly, i say it is not likely to hapen something exagerated.
Of course, there is still the issue that the guidelines have some space of maneuvering and a mute of 5 mins or a mute of 5 hours can all be acceptable. Both can be acceptable for the same situation and it will depend on your luck at the moment. Advice, don't test your luck, haha.

Also, how is a mute for several hours too exaggerated? You can still play but are not able to talk... there is no lower punishment than that.

I say moderators should be swift to hand out mutes, and slow to hand out long bans. Help everyone to realise there is consequences to actions, without doing anybody any serious damage unless needed.

If a few hours muting in main is a seriouis punishment then you must be a serial spammer beyond hope of rehabilitation who should be life muted :P
