OK... why are the avatars limited to such abysmally low sizes? even AIM allows larger avs! can we please have 10, 15K avatars? its not like everyone has a 100K sig to slow you down, and almost everyone these days has DSL/Cable, if you don't, well... do we have to cater to the few without? 150K isn't that much data anyway, even for Dial-up...

Maybe we don't all want to be spammed with animated gif avatars? I think 4k is fine... I like the forums loading nice and quickly. Plus, who pays for foum bandwidth? I imagine could soon add up to a lot of b/w...

then could we have the ability to refer our avatar to another url? when you upload from url, the forums saves it as an image... why doesn't it just use the url's bandwidth? plenty of free hosts out there who could pay for the bandwidth

also, the size didn't stop Kixxe/Andreask...

I'd prefer 10k, it'd cost me less of the quality of some images I want to use instead of this older commander.

I've had a lot of trouble making this image small enough to work as an avatar. Even if it was just 8k we could use the full color range of a JPG or GIF. If you don't like animated gifs just disable them in your browser, that's what I did.

I would like a little more image size as well (8 or 10k will do). Why are animated GIF's a big no-no? Everyone admired aGorm's Spring eating smily ^.^

The current size is more than plenty. The avatar is not meant to showcase your works of art, it's just an identifying mark.

Bigger the better, but I don't really care, 15 kilobytes isnt all that much.

Yes it is. Imagine 15 people posting on a page, each with their own 15 kb avatar. 225 kilobytes!

I'd like to see the maximum dimensions increased to 100x100 though maybe, and 5 kb.

That's rather insulting, considering I did avatar art for over a year, sir.

5 kb would admitadly make all mine that bit better, but you can still do loads with 4kb! Or I can any way...
