A map request.

Hi there, mappers. Been awhile since I've asked for anything, map-wise, but I thought I'd ask for this one.

Basically, I'm looking at making a map based off of a heightfield generated from a 3D model, with procedural textures and other things being used to generate the render, optimized for a top-down view, of course.

The model is almost done, and this is sort've a proof-of-concept for me, so I wanted to hear if anybody else has been doing this sort've thing and has any practical advice for me in terms of making the heightmap and other details.

picasso has been doing that sort of thing I believe. Might do you good to get ahold of him.

*nods* picasso has been doing work in 3dsmax to render his model as a heightmap. He would be the one to ask.

it does... but with a few tags being properly implemented in the code you could acctually include your 3D model in the map as a skin for the terrain you have generated with it...
