Yes, the commander represents the player. (In Supcom, this is ever more then in TA).

And, the language of the forums strats getting less complicated. we mostly understand eachother by simple humms ;)

Does this mean that the first unit spawned for every mod is IDed as the player? That seems kindof unintelligent... What if we get spinoff mods that use traditional RTS structures such as starting with a command center and a few menial builders. Not every mod for spring will always start commander unit style.

yes, the commander represents a avatar, a show of the players power. However you are NOT inside the commander, in that day and age the hell would the general stick himself in a frontline mech. So we assume that the commander has some sort of AI which you control from space. So maybe...he has some relay circuits or something. Wait a minute the com is pretty damn small. most of the space is taken up by the pack for the Dgun and construction etc. So why aren't these reproduced?
For gameplay, in a 1v1 i think com ends is a must (unfortunately)
But not in team games
And YOU AREN'T THE COMMANDER! You are a delocalised AI taking actions on information sent to you from the commander! you CONTROL the commander just like other units!

But what if your arm? and would't a signal from outer space be wourbeolbe to desruption?

I am the Commander, watch my tight metallic body explode under the fire of seven AKs.

Indeed you are not inside the commander, because you ARE the commander

WRONG

YOU R the commander, the topdown view is just there for gameplay reasons.

gameplay > realism

=> you aren't the commander

Wrong, you being the commander, makes the gameplay better!

so you play com ends in teamgames?

the commander is NOT you. by definition it CANNOT be you as CORE.

so if you're going with realism, CORE do not have bodies. therefore as you do you are NOT the commander.

and if you're going with gameplay, you use the topdown view and the commander is handled like another unit. also the com continues option >>>>>>>>> com ends in teamgames

Game ends could work for team games, if when the commander dies, all units will be automaticly given to the other team mate.

But then again TA was IMHO designed for 1v1 with game ends

What's all this then?

The way it is now in AA is exactly, exactly, and precisely the way it was in OTA. It is now impossible to tell a commander from a decoy, which is perfection.

and the name showing up on a unit is a tag. It could be put on the peewee or something, if you really wanted to.
