I agree. Some of my best gameing expirences have been with small maps. The best part is the fast and furious action.

This one time the map was nothing but a HUGE endless battle starting from the third minut and onward. It was less building an economy and more keeping the RUINS of our economy from collapsing into nothing. In the end we lost (Damn you, cruise missles!) but it was a huge amout of fun and had clouds practically COVERING THE MAP! It was as like a nukelear winter, i say!

We need more of those maps!

And players!

What type of map you looking for, a water, land or both? What
size map and the number of starting postions would you like
to see?

8x8, land, 4 starting positions, 1-2 tactical important places, some mountains only kbots can climb, or use water. Keep it low on the metal and wind, but some geo's will be of great help. It'll make bases vulnerable, for the loss of 1 geo will almost destroy the economy.

There's Brazilian Battlefield, which invites too much for porking. Well designed map though, and love it's appearance! Small divide is a fun map, but could be more open. The Cold Place is fun too, for it's open places and the ability to use the water.

Maybe some urban map could work out quite well. It's a nice way to test for making urban maps.

Urban maps only would work if they are most like Pincusion. Now THAT would rock, fighting amongst a lode of really tall buildings, with streets acting as choke points, but you COULD fit very small units (Crawling bombs?) through the allyway between buildings. Don't make the buildings reclaimable, as that would ruin the point of haveing there being buildings.

Here are a few screenies of a map I just started ....
The map size is 8 x 8 and it will have 4 starting
locations. Remember it's still being worked on.
Most likely I'll have it completed in 2 weeks.

yay, i figured out how to post from my phone. I even got to see pics and all. Now i have something to do when i'm away from a comp and bored. Anyways, nice pics. Small maps rock when it comes to intense battles. Can't wait to play on that map.

See those raised bits that look mroe groundish than tiled? Make it go all the way around the map to hide the ugly edges, the edges just stand out so much more there.

Other than the tiling texture I love the new look.

I join to the pettition.

8x8

10x10

12x12

even 14x14

but no bigger.

The reason is maps like this are allways fun, and good for 2v2, 1v1.

The concept SecurE made "chopping" his map in several also playable parts is good. Some big maps could get cropped and reuse good work.

Quite frankly i'm looking for maps smaller than the cold place! something where I can have fun small smirmishes...kinda like Red Planet in OTA, that was a fun map.

I also quite liked Red Hot Lava...

I would be happy if someone was able to port Red Planet and pimped it quite a bit... (Forboding Angel, you know you wanna...)

It'd be nice to have a remixd brazillian battlefields, then a larger version to go with it...... *hint hint*

I thought noize was the god of all things remake ;p

I could, but I honestly think that NOIZE would do a beter job of a pure remake than I would.
Generally when I remake a map I fix all the things I never liked about it, which sometimes people aren't too fond of :D

BTW I'm working on an 8x8 desert map for ya. It's kind of a bitch because the heightmaps at that size start getting really bitchy to work with. I may try a height of 200. TRied 600, looked like crap, went to 300, better.

bleh, sometimes I can't win :D lol

Well, I guess i'll have to bug Noize for it then...muhahhaa!

I appriciate you guys trying, but i'm sure that I speak for a lot of people that smaller maps are sometimes nice too.

Would OTA height maps statisfy you?

I am working on a map called "Dawn on Volcano Island" which is supposed to deliver frantic 2-Player action.

Although it's 20x20 it feels much smaller and there really isn't much between you and your opponent besides a small inactive volcano. Still working on it but I'll have something to show soon.

"'Cause the waiting is the hardest part..." (from some Simpsons episode).
