MADNESS HAHA -actully a map discusion

Thought id make it offical....

Anyway, the first image there is not actully a shot of any new sort of explosion creater, its just part of the map.

Also, scroll down for more screenies, and actully info, dont disregard this as nonese cause of the first post!

I went afk on MSNM and you signed off, so I couldn't reply there... but yeah, the blast scars look nice. However, (and not to nitpick, but...) it looks like the land that was cratered to being just above water level has also been dynamically turned into beach, which is a *little* weird.

It would hardly be mine if it was spelt right would it??

Also... I've been pulling your legs, its not a brand new style of creater that spring leaves (though ones like that would be so cool...) Its just a creater thats moddeled into the map. :-) :P I mean come on like id post anything serios in teh off topic thread.

On relesing the map... hold on please!! Ill prob be releasing it within a week or so. Just need to iron it out (littraly, there isnt quite enough flat ground at the mo to build on :-) )

Also... is someone playing with my avatar, its not loading :evil:

These are just a few beta shots, i need to get some rocks and things done befor i release...

Also, if anyone knows of a good set of feature tdf values for trees I'd be most greatfull, cause I cant seem to get mine right as i cant remember what all teh tags are and what they do.

By the way... has anyone ever had this problem where the terrain goes all liney in teh distance?? If you look at teh shots you can see realy tiling lines, its like its shaded one edge of all the tiles slightly lighter than it should of. If i was using crap high compression I could understand, but its on 0.5, and there are plenty of actully tiles ares, so It shouldnt be picking such daft tiles atall.

And thing is... it looks like its on all the tiles on the map, not just the odd few... second screenshot is a good example, were teh white lines show up on the blakened earth and on the transition to the grass and the grass... how odd is that? And I think it removes some of teh beauty of the map.

That, Or is there a way to get into the texture files once there made, to edit some of the textures? I could manuly edit that suxer out then.

Yes I have seen this, I thought it was a graphics card/driver LOD issue and not a problem with the map itself.

agorm, it's because of mapconv's compression. Also, if you rendered this... you need to render at a 1 to 1 ratio. This will make them go away.

I'm not so sure, I sometimes see the same thing on the chess board, and I use a 1.0 compression. Those funny vertical lines can be seen on a lot of maps, and I usually see it when I zoom out far. I think it is just a Spring thing.
