The leaves are fine, the tree stem? (hope stem is the right English word.. :-|) looks a bit stretched.
IMO you applied the texture better on the little left tree stem.

All you need to do is make more of the same :-)

^ What he said ^

And I think the trunk (not stem) should be a little darker. Otherwise it looks great.

well, I already gave you my (mother's) input on it, but it is looking good. Painted Desert is a funny place to test it out.

Hmm...

1. The tree's trunk seems a bit grainy, due to the technique used. I kind've think that it might be better to build the model with one closed-top cylinder for trunk sections, and then gradually taper/curve them, so that you can still use good detail levels. That said... um... very, very few people will be looking at these from the side, so I doubt very much that it matters, and I'm just being anal ;)

2. I really like how the palm leaves turned out- very natural-feeling, and good colors :-)

Not everyone plays in OTA veiw Argh, so people will see them from the sides. Please make them look good from all angles.

You might get good results mapping on a low-res jpg of an actual palm trunk.

Hmm. That lighting looks very strange. Is it the map, or the object- are these trees inverted S3Os?

Odd...the commander looks worse then the Tree's!!!!

Nice trees, Smoth! (they look a little off with the backround, but thats mostly the terrain)

Hmm. The bark texture still doesn't feel quite right- too dark at the base, not quite enough yellow (it's a almost-subliminal thing tho)

The terrain he's using doesn't help, try putting it on a sandy one so we can get a better idea of what it will look like.

The idea with the texture is that at the top the leaves create shade that darkens the bark, and at the bottom the rest of the tree and ground level objects create shade... However, I do think you're right, it's a bit too dark as is.

bigger leaves, see how they comapre with the actual pics in terms fo ratio, your leaves dotn take up as much as the ones in the photo.
