Allie has left message

Something quite Important... people leaving games.
Now, whilst I know we can't realy do anything to stopp noobs randomly leaving teh game, it would be nice If maybe a warning came up.
Most people only have time for 1 game, and cant afford to play for 30mins and then restart... (especialy people like me....) so when a noob allie quits out on you after 2 mins and says nothing and you, being busy dont notice he suddenly stops playing. After maybe 20 mins or so you sunndely ask him what teh hell hes doing, but not being tehre he dont respond so you get angry and type ".take"
However by now teh damage is done. If he had said he was leaving you coudl have build up his side and if you were good theres no reason why you couldn't win teh game (all be it it would be harder, as you cant be 2 places at once) but atleast there would be a chance. But because he didnt you cant win and you cant restart and find a new allie because its takebn too long to get here!!!
All I want is a big "YOUR ALLIE HAS LEFT" Message to come up when one quits the game. Its simple and it would save some people a whole lot of grief. (I hav'nt had a game in like 3 weeks and when i suddenly got tiem for and and it was runind by some noob, naturlly I was pissed off as hell. I dont want anyone else to suffer this fate to...)

Well they do have the "blah blah lost connection." But even if they have "YOUR NOOB ALLY HAS LEFT YOU LOLOLOLOLOLOL" go in the chat box, if your battling or too busy, you will miss it. Or, with all the attacks and cons and units getting stuck, your chat box will be spammed and you will miss it even if it does flash up.
It would be nice to realize that tho, cuz it is a pain in the butt. Maybe have it where another box pops up to the upper right that says "so-n-so has left the game", and there is a timer in that corner (say 2 mins). That will give the remaining allies 2 mins to take the bailers stuff. If nobody takes in 2 mins, then all the units that belonged to the lamer is destroyed.
If nobody likes the destroying idea, just put the timer up there, if the time expires, nothing happens and there is no further reminder to the remaining allies. It would be their own fault for not taking. They can still take afterwards if they finally realize their ally is gone.
Or just do something simple and play a wav file when ur ally leaves. Like the Hudson's "Game over man, game over!"
Anyway, just an idea.

I know exactly how you feel. A nitification of leaving players is a good idea.

Give it a sound and it will get noticed.

Give it the com warning sound. That will make you listen up. But dont bring it up in a box, just put in over teh middle of teh screen in red letters and flash on and off twice or somthing. That way you dont need to do anything, and it wont get in teh way of you ordering units about, but you will notice it.

Sound would be an easy implementation, but I dunno if its just me or other ppl have this problem too but: Every now and then when my commander is under attack, or during big battles, some sounds wont play. IE. if there is a huge battle or tons of bb's firing, you pretty much dont hear anything else, even if ur commy is under attack, u wont hear the alarm or anything till its too late.

Havnt noticed... but it would simply be a case of making the comander sound stop all other sounds playing (or make them go half volume while teh com sound is played)

The sound that should play should be:
"You are going to get OWNED foo!"

hmm, maybe you need to raise the "Max simultaneous Sounds" Slider in the graphics options.

simple solution ...
add some (special) character(s) to .info table
like (X) or (!) mean no network activity from that person or so ...
or and (AI) that he was retaken by AI :)))

that .info stuff si gonan eb rewritten by jouninkomikof or the new GUi anyways, why not suggest an itnerface in a panel with options etc and info displays layout etc for him so he can do it before it's finished, otherwise he'll finish it then hear about this and you're not as likely to get it done.
Also it might eb a good diea if the game reserved a sound channel specifically for GUI sounds sucha s the alerts, ro even just noises the GUI makes when you rpess a button.

I train noobs and other guys on the map volcano island v6 to make them "good" players that fight on your side until the bloody end. I do not train quitters

You know, that was one of my biggest things when I joined Spring... possibly why I get really rough when I'm alone in a fight, but my teams always disappeared... and I was left, 1v4 or whatever.

Aren't you supposed to lock the thread after a snarky comment, BL?
I'm NOT back seat moderating. That just really looked like the comment a mod would use at the end of the thread, and I'm wondering if a lock was meant after it?

I think being able join games where people have left (and take their stuff) is a good idea, might be hard to program tho.

Neutral, unowned units should have white energy bars.
(just like stunned stuff has blue bars)
