If you think "I lost my settings" e.g. shadows, grounddecals, after I updated to 95.0:

Look in your old spring directory. Move springsettings.cfg into /my games/spring. Search your harddrive and delete all other instances of springsettings.cfg

Why: ALL your config files, maps, games, widget, etc, should be in /my games/spring. They will then be shared across all your installed spring versions. Then, when you install a new spring version you should install it into a new/blank directory.

@linux, you can work it out ;)

Near Topic: Bluestone told me that editing settings using springlobby -> edit -> Spring settings does not work currently (springlobby update will fix this). So you are required to change settings using spring.exe.

On Topic: I was using spring.exe to set "Fullscreen = 0". It did work for spring.exe, yet the spring.exe started by springlobby was still fullscreen. So i deleted C:\Users\Zinn\AppData\Local\springsettings.cfg . spring.exe was using this to write the settings to. I then started spring.exe, changed my settings to "Fullscreen = 0" and everything worked like expected. :roll:

this things should do the installer for the normal user (player)
this is like all the other difficult things, the devs presume what a normal user should know and do

and just my thinking about:
one reason of many, why spring has such a small userbase after years
-> usability and easyness = 30%
nerdfactor 70%

installations and updates always fucks up in any way for some users
