Metalmap

I need a compleeted list of everything i can put in my metal map. And i need to know how i can do the following steps in Photoshop:
i have a grayscale 24 bit-bitmap with the grass information. how can i convert it in the riht color (blue i think) and include it in my metal map?

Image as you can see i also need to increase the strenght of my color.

(i'm sorry if there are grammatical mistakes in there English isn't my first language)

Easy... go to HUE Saturation then tick the colourise box and drag teh handles to blue.

thast in one of teh first few drop downs under adjustments i think...

If your using mothers mapconv the grass map is the blue channel of the feature map not the metal map.

To covert grey to blue, I used to split and combine the channels but I have a better way now.
I use PSP but I am sure PhotoShop is similar enough for this to work.

Select "adjust brightness and contrast" using "curves", go to the seperate channel mode and make the red and green channels completely flat at the bottom of the graph. This should be all you need, if you have the option save these curves for next time call them "blue only" or similar.

Dunno if this works in Photoshop, but it works for me in Fireworks.

1) Convert the Greyscale image to Alpha/Transparency or whatever its called.
2) Place a layer of the desired colour under the greyscale layer. If the transparency is done correctly, you now should have a nicley coloured picture.

The advantages of doing it this way, is you can eaily set the colour of the background layer to whatever you want, instead of fiddling with the curves trying to get it right. You can also underlay the transparent bit with another picture to get different colour amounts in different reigons.
