Metal Patch View - modification request

If it's possible, can we have a slider in options that lets you choose the amount that the map is darkened in metal view, and the alpha of metal; it's just really useful to be able to constantly see where the metal is, but currently the entire map is darkened so much, it's ugly to play in this view.
What i'd do is set the metal patch alpha to 50%, and not have the map faded much, or maybe even at all.

For the record I agree... but I wouldn't put it at the top of the priorities list, as it probably isn't as easy to impliment as it sounds.

I totally agree! Maybe one of the devs can tell us how hard it actually is? Thnx!!

I usually fix this problem by holding down f4 and the 2 views flash inbetween the 2 views, it does give you a headache tho.....

Colour hightmaps give ME headaches. But this mode would be really really usefull. So would be a becon/flare button, like as in AOE 1,2, and 3.

Whenever you set down a marker, it does hat th beacon and flare button in AOE do, and anybody whois allied to you sees it aswell.

aka playing the sound and the thigns drawn on the minimap which zoom in on the position

If not at all impossible...
I guess more maps need to show/give hints in the textures of where the metal is. But your idea is cool, too.

I would have to disagree, The metal-map does not give me any real problems, I just do brief switches between view if the metal map obscure/hides things.

Sometimes I wish the regular map texture was entirely hidden in metal view, because it's hard to judege the blueness of a metal patch when the regular texture color interfere.

And yes, it's not like we play long periods of time in metal view. Just a quick glance from time to time. So it doesn't have to look good, but to be clear.

The L view on the other hand I wish was more prettily rendered.
