Ubuntu 11.10 - Oneiric Ocelot - Sync errors for everything

G'day all,
I've only recently upgraded my ubuntu to 11.10, even though it's been out for two weeks.
Well looks like spring doesn't play nice with the latest version. I've tried everything I can think of except for building from source.
Anyone else out there on Ubuntu and have they tried 11.10?

If I understand this:
http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=2459 correct the package in universe syncs (
http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/spring), but the one in PPA not. So try that... There is also hope for the future: the next release seems to work with gcc4.6.

Yeah, this is absurd.
My SpringLobby UI bugs went away with 11.10. I gained constant desyncs.

Well I've finally found the time to stuff around with this. did a purge of spring/springlobby, added the ppa's as per the instructions (
http://zero-k.info/Wiki/Download#Linux).
Now when I connect to the lobby I get the following error:
No compatible installed spring version has been found, this server requires version; 0.82.7
Your current installed versions are: 83.0
Online play is currently disabled.
Buggered if I know what to do now...

Just found a comment that there is no lobby available for 83.0 now, so I think I'll just wait. May as well read that c++ book I've been meaning too, gotta get back up to speed on it, been years since I last coded in anger with c++

it means, you need spring 0.82.7 to play online, but you have 83.0. thus you have to install 0.82.7 to be able to play online, cause 83.0 is not yet set live, therefore you can not yet play online with that.

Hmm. From what I've read it sounds like 0.83 is a tad on the buggy side, suspect I'll be waiting a while.
I'm not going to download the source and compile it Hoijui, I would rather act like a user and just use the ppa's, I can wait until everything is all okey dokey.
Not sure what malen nach zahlen means... pay for paint?!?!
