Automatic Content Installer

Hi,
I've installed the Spring Engine and Lobby etc via yum on Fedora and wanted to start playing.
In the newbies guide I found the sentence "If you skip the automatic content installer for some reason, you can still download and install content manually."

I never saw this automatic content installer :(
Is there a way to use it? Or do I have to download and install the stuff manually?

Best regards

you start SpringLobby, and join a game, and the automatic content downloader will download the game and map for you.
if some guide is misleading, and its a wiki, please feel free to log in and make it more easy to understand.

Well the download appears on the Download list but it doesn't load anything :( this happens with zero-k.
at other games like robot defense it tells me, that "the remote server no sources to download the file from"

For some time now sl downloads don't work for me anymore :(
I got used to go to springfiles...
I'll search sl issue tracker later...

Titus: while the cool auto-content-installer is bugged, there is a work-around:
Go to http://springfiles.com/spring/ and use left-side navigation ->games to find Zero-K, Balanced Annihilation, XTA, Tanks etc.
use ->maps to download maps.
Regarding map: easiest way is to join an online game (of which you already have the game/mod) and then type in chat window "!maplink". The autohost server will respond with a HTTP-link. Follow it and you'll end up right at the download site :) This does not work with self-hosted games.

Like this it works thank you all.
I've got yet other problems:
I want to toggle the the left and right mouse button. In the spring settings of the lobby there is an option called "invert mouse" but it doesn't have any effect. On the desktop the buttons are toggled.
Also the game seems to have problems with the textures: All units and building are in one ugly color.

I'm looking forward for your responses!

screenshot and infolog.txt please?

On the downloaders:
springlobby (0.135, windows) auto downloads most maps for me. It only fails on maps that are not "registered on the server", whatever that means. (http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=26578)

The rapid-gui.exe that comes with Spring never worked for me but others seem to be quite happy with it.
I think it is only for games?

I always manually get games from springfiles, less hassle and you do not have to dl games as often as new maps.

zero-K lobby should autodownload "everything" too and kind of works but now I do not use it anymore for other reasons. I downloads the files in many small packages which has advantages for speed but can also be annoying.

TASclient has a download system too, I suppose.

So basically you can chose from any of those and see what works for you.

Also having such page but for players would be nice.

On Linux your choices are more limited...

Titus:
* inverted mouse means invert scolling in/out of map
* are you using OSS-drivers? What's your gfx card? More infos.

[f=0000000] GL: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV670

afaik this is the open-source driver? nice to hear, that it runs in general.

imo relevant settings to play with (in springsettings) are:

-(lua)shaders
-pixelbuffer objects
-compress textures

but i don't really know, sorry.

1. you definitely need to use the closed source drivers - they suck at 2D, but you need them for proper 3D.
2. afaik GNOME3 has problems (at least performance wise) handling 3D fullscreen apps

With the catalyst driver it works very well but gnome 3 is buggy
I switched over to lxde and it's all fine except the mouse buttons.
