These maps utilize ssmf to bring the visual appeal to new heights, included are metal spots for general project support, improved feature placement via lua(thanks jk) and map options which effect the game environment.

WOW.

Every one of these maps deserves its own thread. Incredible.

River valley may be a 103MB, 30x30 monster...but it looks so cool! Dang. Professional maps indeed.

Total download time is about 4 hours so didn't bother. Maybe some time I'll download them onto my netbook and take them home with me for my desktop PC when I get access to somebody's network sometime.

Messa doesn't appear to be on any of the filehosts.

And unlike every other nincompoop on Springfiles, he actually posted a real screenshot of the map instead of assuming that all we wanted to see was a minimap.

I used to upload screenshot + minimap + metal map + psychadelic view. :regret:

Bana contacted me and told me that these maps are not on some autohosts. Apparently these maps are not available in the autohosts and i have no idea why this is because I was told the auto hosts like sprigie had all map files that springfiles has so why the autohosts are lacking these maps is not something I can control, I did what I could, sorry guys.

I thinks it's because springfiles buggered up sending them to some of the mirrors. Several of them I had to dl from Springfiles directly because the vsync and evo mirrors gave me a 2 meg file.

Isn't the torrent system where Springie fetches from?

Springies and downloaders get maps from http://planet-wars.eu/PlasmaServer

Maps get registered there automatically by springdownloader.

So all you need to do for having your map on springies is to start springdownloader for registration.

However for map to be downloadable by clients, it also needs to be in file mirrors (springfiles).

As you can see, smoth fails in second step. Map is not downloadable, all downloads failed because it does not exist under same name at springfiles or any other mirror.

Springfiles name should match map internal name. And file name should match file name during registration. Then its most likely to find all mirrors.

Either you or Det failed to mention the downloader part, I was told by whoever that springie gets to use all files hosted on spring files.

This feels like you are passing the blame when there was none. Saying I failed when I did all I was told to is putting blame on the people who gave me the original instructions. Then we get into blame game and I hate blame game, it is too common here on this site and needs to stop.
Licho wrote:Springfiles name should match map internal name. And file name should match file name during registration. Then its most likely to find all mirrors.
I didn't rename anything when I uploaded, and if there was some other issue with filenames internal to the archive I was unaware. However all the files DO have mirrors so I am unsure what this has to do with the issue at hand.

mirrors:
Grts_Northernmountains_008
Grts_desertValley_011
Grts_CookedWell_007
Grts_Rocky_Glacier_009
springfiles.com (current server)
files.springrts.de (live mirror)
evolutionrts.info (live mirror)

Grts_Messa_007
Grts_Gunmetal_Harbor_008
springfiles.com (current server)
evolutionrts.info <-forb why is this extra link here?
files.springrts.de (live mirror)
evolutionrts.info (live mirror)

When did using springdownloader become a requirement licho? I was told I only needed spring files? If Springdownloader is a requirement when then do I still need to upload to springfiles? Why does springdownloader not also have support for pulling the spring files data as well to determine common files that should be seeded from players?

SpringDownloader has always been a requirement. There has always been only one way to add file to downloader system - running springdownloader.

Basically it works like that:
* springdownloader auto detects new files in your maps folder. It checks against server if its known or not known file
* if file is unknown, it extracts information about map (minimap, heightmap, spring hashes, start positions, md5 hash etc) and "registers" it - uploading this information to PlasmaServer

Autohosts:
* autohosts (springies) regulary update data from PlasmaServer. Because they dont need actual map file to host, they are fine with just this metadata (same for mods). Thats why they can host even file which cannot be downloaded at all.

Clients:
* later if there is download request by either SD or SL or recent TasClient, Plasmaserver does mirror check, looking through possible mirrors, searching for file with exactly same name and size and using springfiles search by name and its own mirror feature.
Complete list of valid mirrors that support resume and have matching length is then returned to client which wants to download (and cached for faster reuse).

Atm no downloads actually use torrents directly in P2P, torrent file is used just by springlobby to verify content of the file. Its actually always being downloaded from webmirrors.
SD uses its own multipart download and only uses torrent hashes for verification of parts.
Tasclient picks one mirror and downloads the file from it (unless it fails).

To add to confusion, there is also somewhat separate system called rapid, which can be used to distribute changing mods in incremental way.
SD has rapid client and automatically searches rapid first before trying to use conventional plasma-server based download.
SL or Tasclient cannot download rapid things.

If you have further questions regarding downloading system its best to
