So, the sound in spring was working fine(hooked up via 7.1 surround sound via analog).
I just got my Astro A40 headset and it requires a fiber connection to do 5.1 surround sound in the headset.
So I disconnected my speakers from analog and I hooked up my astro's via the fiber port on my Xfi Fatal1ty Titanium.
Then I set windows to use Digital out(fiber) as the default sound output device.
Everything works except Spring, when I go into Spring now there is no sound for it what so ever.
I also disabled all other ports for the Xfi card and the onboard 7.1 sound card.
I am using the latest Spring with TASclient, and the latest BA.
I can hear the sound in TASClient fine, but there is no sound in Spring..
Any Ideas?

Re: No sound in spring with fiber
FIXED by turning on Dolby Digital Live, which forwards all normal sound to Fiber out, so I set by analog back to default audio device, Spring uses that, then the card sends it out the Fiber slot :)
Re: No sound in spring with fiber
Code: Select all
[ 0] Sound: Device: SB X-Fi Audio [0001]
[ 0] Sound: Available Devices:
[ 0] Sound: Generic Software
[ 0] Sound: SB X-Fi Audio [0001]
There is currently no way to configure which sound device should be used by spring. I wrote a patch to enable sound device choosing, it will be in the next version of spring.
The next (major) version of spring will be shipped with OpenAL Soft, instead of Creatives OpenAL library.
... ah you solved it, nice!

well, the patch is in already :D
Re: No sound in spring with fiber
Good that the problem is solved, but I am surprised you ask this type of question here. It is not even remotely related to Spring. Get the sound working with one app/game and it will work with them all...
Re: No sound in spring with fiber
Most games/apps use DirectSound, Spring is of the very few using OpenAL.

Re: No sound in spring with fiber
As the last 2 posts said, everything was working except Spring. Spring doesn't allow you to select the output audio device. I simply found a work around by letting it use its default audio device and then forwarding that sound to the device I really wanted the output to go to(the joys of an external soundcard). But as hoijui said, they added sound device picking functionality to the next version of spring, which is good news for everyone :)zerver wrote:n remotely related to Spring.
