team.allyteam Error when Starting Singleplayer (Resolved)

Post by Gabraham »

Just found out about and downloaded the spring engine yesterday. It's pretty impressive so far, and online chat and battles all seems smooth. However, the only problem I've had so far is this error message. I've been trying to get into singleplayer so I can practice against bots, but whenever I hit the start button, the screen goes black for a second, then I get kicked out of the game and I get the error message: "Incorrect/Missing Content: invalid Team.Allyteam in GameSetup script."

I've attempted this with multiple setups, adding and decreasing bots, changing bot AIs, changing mods, but nothing seems to fix it. I searched around on the forums and on google and the only similar case I've found is the same error message but with replays, which already work fine on mine.

EDIT: I also tried restarting the SpringLobby client and I just restarted my computer and it still doesn't work.

Any help with this problem would be appreciated, I'd like to not get my but whooped while still learning how BA works (which, in case it matters, is the mod I was TRYING to start singleplayer for).

in the meantime you can host a multiplayer passworded game and add a bot

Thanks so much for that tip, I'll try it out.

EDIT: Didn't work, same error. The problem seems to persist either when I add bots to the game or when I start games period. It generated a bug report this time though, but I don't know if it gets automatically sent or if you have to find the file and retrieve it.

Try other AI. Try other games/mods.

May I interest you in Kernel Panic, which, while not looking as pretty, not having a gameplay as complex, not having as many units, as more popular Spring games/mods, comes with a noob-proof installer making it much more easy to play single player?

Already tried other AIs and mods as I stated in the original post. Also I already updated yesterday and pressing "check for new update" in springlobby does nothing so I'm assuming it's the latest.

@zwzsg
I don't think Kernel Panic at all solves my problem. I want to practice in BA against bots, either motionless or active, so I can practice base building patterns and strategies. Playing a stripped down version of the game (or is it even the same game?) isn't going to help me improve, but thanks for your suggestion.

try a different lobby or update.
the NullAI ais do nothing but should not crash either.

I would suggest you contact the package manager directly (the package should carry contact info).

Short of compiling SL yourself this is not solvable by editing any file (and then you don;t have to edit a file..).
