Any mod team needs help?

I would like to work with a mod team to learn Spring modding. I cannot promise to offer great skills and since i go to university now not more than some hours a week. If anyone still would like me to help out with something, just post here.

I can:
Draw concepts
Create 3d models with both low and high poly counts
Work with upspring
unwrap (only the poor unwraps that wings produces)
Code a bit (i wanna learn it :P )
I know quite a bit about gameplay design and balancing, from working for several Zh mods as a balance tester.

If you need me just post :P

i think CA would be a good place to go. Any decent modelling/texturing contribution would be appreciated. + it would be a good place to learn as alot fo LUA work in spring comes from CA. Check the CA subforum or the CA dev website www.caspring.org

Yep, CA probably has the friendliest and most knowledgeable dev team around. It's where I learned the majority my skills for stuff. The s44 team is also quite helpful (and brilliant).

S44 probably doesn't have much use for concepts or new things; its mostly modeled after real historical objects.

CA on the other hand gives pretty free reign with your creative abilities.

That said, you don't have to be restricted to just helping one or the other. I've got a couple little models in progress for s44, but mainly i work on CA stuff.

I think those need texturing as well.

Erm, one of our most powerful/influential devs very recently left development, and, at this moment, only maackey, scifi, and I are doing models and other art, which is a huge part of the project, and neither maackey nor I have committed a model in the last 2 months. Furthermore, all of us are stretched a bit thin, with maackey and I working on models/textures/anims/concepts/etc, the new website, art assets (icons, chili stuff, concepts for GUI/site designs), and a whole host of other stuff, such as advertising, actually playing, and RL.

jK, sirmaverick and CarRepairer are all working on our lua, but we have multiple projects to maintain and an ever growing GUI framework, not to mention new widgets that need to be made. They are also stuck doing effects and helping maintain the whole host of subprojects CA has spawned, such as ModelBase, SpringDownloader, PlanetWars, and Winter, which used to be maintained mainly by licho. Furthermore, jK has to work on the engine, CarRepairer likes making cool, crazy, creative features periodically, SirMaverick (AFAIK) maintains a widget directory, and maackey and I need some new artists to provide enthusiasm and inspiration.

In short, CA does not have too many people already, and we're not only working on a mod, but also managing dozens of smaller projects working under the CA umbrella. We need new talent whenever and wherever we can get it! :-)

A related note:
We're a friendly crew, not fascists. :P It's fine to be a CA dev and also contribute to other projects. In fact, all of our current devs have probably contributed to a different project in one form or another, from big things like the basis for chicken defense and SpringDownloader, to a few models for a different game, or images for a gui.

/your day job/your social life/school.

We are not all god-men like you, smoth.

Either way, yes, CA would love to have you et cetera. The other mod developers can come here and speak for themselves. Every single mod zwzsg listed has way more art man hours going into it right now than CA does (except maybe THIS), lets not punish the project just because we have the most active lua devs.

Please note that the CA site is being a spaz just now though (its normally fine).

i am not better just more dedicated. I do not believe anything I do is above the reach of others. They just need to keep building up their skills.

Zwzsg listed games, and no, not all of them have more hours being put into art at this point.

Well, THIS could use someone to texture the ships...

Is Fallen Haven even under actual development to begin with?

As far as I remember, Fallen Haven is on hiatus.

not everyone can contribute the amount of hours some dedicated teams put into there mods its a hobby in the end of the day and people can apply as much time as they want/can im sure if thesleepless or any of the other modellers/texturers to dedicate a ton of time to CA the mod would have more visual polish but it is not the case. And CA is defanitely not overstaffed (well maybe in the LUA department its ok)

For the record this is a blatant lie and misinformation.

Just because they are not in agreement with your views and you insist to troll/abuse admins and then exploit bugs to provoke reactions from dev's.

also players and devs are different things.

I'm not referring to their attitude towards me, I mean in general CA is a giant ego-fest.

Irrelevant to what I said.

I'm not going to debate this in this thread further.
