Have not played it yet, but is there enough metal / space for an 8v8?

Yah, 16*12 seems awfully small for an 8v8. Also, if you make it 8v8, there is a whopping 8 whole mexes to fight over. This really encourages porcing to no end.
Also, next time dont just post a resize of the texture, an ingame shot is worth much more and you can actually see height detail instead of just having to guess.
Using the OTA metal patches is very nostalgic and all, but I think we can finally all move past those.

Well, the final area is 192 units squared, which is just a bit less than, say, the 200 units squared of Delta Siege Dry and there would be 12 metal spots to fight for if played 8v8. I don't really expect it to be that good for 8v8 anyways, but hey, if people want to play it, they can play it. I created the metal spot textures, by the way.
Put new pictures in OP.

DSD is not a 8v8 map though. This looks like a 4v4 max map to me

maybe not designed to be, but it is the de facto 8v8 map, and as such it can be used as a gameplay basis of designing a new 8v8 map.
good work here but suffers from l3dt's heightmap squaredness. good texture.

Actually, it looks like it might be good for a 1v1 if you shrank it and decreased amount of metal.

more interessting texture would have been nice, showing that there is a way up the hill for example.
also, imo not all parts of the map must be reachable by all units.
I would like to see a map like this were the islands are not connected to the mainland.
