Spring RTS Engine

Hi i need help!

And what is my problem ??? Good question :)

So i updated the driver .
Downloaded the brand new driver from nvidia.
Installed , and i happy becouse spring is started to work normaly.

But the not good thing is , this new driver not supported my 6600gt card best.

I play not just spring.This new driver is make my Win Xp instabble.
Random pc crashes hapened not just one game.
I tryeed to play several games and the pc is just flashing and the bios screen jumping in restarted or blue crash screen dumping memory started.
This is wierd.

So i make a selection and revert back my driver to 81.89 .
This 81.89 the best driver ever released to my card and working 100% .
Offcourse minus spring.
Every other game is working 100% just spring has this black fog or somthing in the game and i not see nothing.
I turned off everything and still there.

With new nvidia 190.62 this game starting working but other games crashing when i started it(Runes of Magic,Settlers10th and many more).

I removed this driver becouse my system not stable anymore.
With old driver no crash no screenflickering everithing perfect.

The old spring worked in my pc ( spring 0.78xx-0.79xx series).
When the new 0.8xxx series released the game screen is go wierd.

Maybe this new series using some new graphic effects what is my 6600gt not support and the driver not too,becouse this is a new effect or somthing that only the new driver can emulating with using software+cpu power .

But still just the update driver answer.

there is a problem in your driver, with something that spring uses, and the other games do not use. you will not get an other answer. The problem is in your driver, not in spring, we can not help you. In theory, nvidia could fix it, but i would not count on that.

OK i found the answer why new driver not working on my system.

I have 6600gt card with new driver my system go crash randomly or many game starting .

I fixed it ! :) HOW ??

The answer :


Press mouse button on the desktop,and go settings menu(nvidia).

Select the best speed , not best quality.
Than go to other settings menu and turn off everything and selecting manual not application controls.
Than apply.

When u do this right every controls on manual and all quality effects is off.(no aa and ap control off,bestspeed,texturefiltering minimum,and prerendering is 0 .... )

I using now nvidia forceware 190.38 driver spring screen is good , and i tested the 2 games what i writed (Runes of .... and Settlers 2 10th) .
They are not crashed at the start now.(ok they are a newer driver 190.62 , but for testing this is good)

When u have the same problem and with these settings ur system goes stable and spring is working start turning back the options in nvidia settings , but only 1 option per step ,and u find out what option is crashing ur system.

I go and do the same now.

I hope others maybe use this info too who has some crashing with system like my.

1.5 gig Ram
SB audigy4
Nvidia6600GT
WinXP SP2 32bit

I make longer testing now but i hope now no crashing anymore.

TIme for a new vid card there spanky ;p

You can get a 9600GT for around 50 bucks now (It's what I have, and I get 100+ fps in spring).

OH :) buy a new card.

My test done no crashing hapened in 2 days.

The driver version number and the settings is in this thread.
Just scroll up a litltle.

I can only use in this pc AGP slot video card.
9600 have pci-express
