could not find gamedata/parse_tdf.lua

I get this error each time i try to start a singleplayer game or multiplayer game. I've already tried to reinstall but that didn't work.
I have the latest spring version (79.1) and i have only downloaded Ta balanced mod and some maps for it.
I would be really grateful if someone could hemp me out with this, i haven't been able to play a single game yet

I'd say try another mod, or at least precise the Spring version and mod name and version you are using.

check if you don't have old base files in maps/mods directory. if you're not sure, clear your mods, if it won't help, also get rid of the maps (you can rename the mods/maps directory if you don't want to download gigabytes of stuff again.)

i've looked for the map gamedata/ in thz spring map and on my pc and it was nowhere to be found. Could it be that something is missing from the newest download?

That sounds very wrong. There should be no gamedata in maps, no maps in gamedata, no maps named gamedata, no maps with a gamedata inside, or any other mix of maps and gamedata.

stop confusing him
that file is contained in springcontent.sdz, you might have some leftovers of an old install inside
c:\users\yourusername\app data\local\virtualstore\program files\spring
delete any copy of springcontent.sdz in such folder and all it's subfolders, if you cannot find the app data dir is because it's invisible by default
also, make sure that the lobby & all it's dll are in the same dir as spring itself

Somebody came into #sy with a log that showed it only scanning programdata and documents for files. Does spring not output when it's scanning the install directory, or is this a really bad bug?

it should check install directory _and_ current working directory as of 0.79.1, no idea what would stop it from doing that.

I have this bug. Purging old Spring files and re-installing to try and fix it.
edit: running Vista 32 + UAC - running as Admin fixes it. it is NOT a problem with defective old mods and maps.
Spring fell over in Vista 32 + UAC in last version too - couldn't connect to servers.

Has there been any progress on fixing this bug? We are waiting patiently... For reference, it started as an issue w/ .79.0.1 release and has not been fixed w/ subsequent releases.
Spring has been uninstalled, purged & reinstalled...Issue w/ multiple mods, single/multiplayer games

For me (vista 32 + UAC), executing SpringLobby as Administrator (right click on shortcut, select "run as administrator") is a workaround until a proper fix is implemented.

Thanks! Very much appreciate the quick workaround response. Worked in single player.

all of these problems started since the change ( or fix as some called it ) on how spring/unitsync searches datadir paths, needs a new spring release to fix it

You downloaded the modfiles as non-admin. They're stored in a different location from admin, so admin mode can't find them.
move them from user/app settings/local/virtualstore/program files/spring/[mods|maps] to program files/spring/[mods|maps]
