Is it just me or is the A.I. incredibly hard to beat?

So i am fairly new at Spring, but i have been playing quite a few rounds against the CPU. Im using the KAIK-0.13.dll and RAI.dll. the AAI.dll that came with the download doesnt work, so im just using those two, but they build really fast and in large numbers. Is there any tips on how to keep up or work around the AI?

learn from humans by watching replays. you'll find that AIs are pretty dumb.

you just have to develop your playing speed, by using queuing a lot for example. Most other games don't even support it that much (besides supcom). Once you can control a lot of units, you can start improving economy buildup and attacking. Then beating an AI will be pretty easy.

Spring AIs are comparatively hard, though. Some (points to kai) were even used as basises for college thesises (thesisi?)!

but yes, the best advice on how top beat an AI is to play vs. a player, or add another AI bot to your team, and plauy 2v1 :-)

Heh, Spring has come a long way. This thread's title is very nice to read, given that for a long time, there wasn't any AI to speak about.

and how can i view these replays? a link to replay program plz and thanks? that would really help. and yes i do make use of queuing commands with the commander and C Units, etc. just balancing metal and energy while building plants and labs and defence or scouts, blah blah blah. Consider me your new Paddawon!

If you download a replay you should just be able to double-click it and it should play.

I think you just need a lot more practice; it gets easier with time. Few tips, presuming you're playing XTA/BA:
1) Make sure you're constantly expanding and trying to get more & more metal spots
2) Never let your builders go idle; use them to build economy (solar collectors + metal makers) or guard your factories/other builders with them. If you have multiple builders working on something, it builds a lot faster, which is really important. Far better than multiple factories.

Build a wall around your base, stick towers behind it, sit back, and watch the AI die horribly while you build a huge swarm of lvl1 units and nuke its base
