Very interesting (and somewhat scary) game design- create a disease, and then wipe the human race out when you go exponential!
Just watch out, it's hard to get Madagascar

that madagascar is like the boss fight of pandemic 2. Except that you have no way of winning it unless you start ON it :[

Hehe, wicked game.
I had this nasty little virus with only fever as a symptom. First I went for the transmission methods, while the environment kept infections low and the virus unnoticed. I just hoarded evolution points, and then evolved into very resistant virus (all resists at tier 3, except drugs which was 4). I managed to infect the entire world (including that pesky madagascar) in like a day or two.
Took me more than 100 days to kill everyone, thogh.

Except that once you've infected like 95% of the population, your evolution point gain will drop like a stone, so you need to time the change from non-deadly into a deadly disease perfectly.
Also places like Madagascar and japan will shut everything down as soon as they hear that someone died in africa, and sometimes they dont even need a death, they just shut down because they want to, so you also need some luck in getting infected people into japan/madagascar/other tiny places before they go haywire~~

The game is pretty fun but lots of waiting around and luck involved in it. Fun to play about with whilst doing something else. The way I won = below.
spoilz
The way I did it was to sell the starting sympton first of all, then upgrade resiliance to 1121. Throw in rats and insects then wait a hell of a long time and see if you're lucky enough to infect the whole world before Peru closes it's borders or Madagascar closes it's port etc. Then once you've got some infected in each region gogo with the water and air to speed up infection rates. By this point you've got loads of evolution points so you can make it deadly and wipe out the World. Not guaranteed to work, but there isn't a strategy that guarantees you'll get into Madagascar etc.
end spoilz.

Restart until you start in Madagascar, sell dangerous traits and buy all the survivability and infectivity ones, then wait until you infected everything. That's exactly how you beat Pandemic 1.

I think some people should die as long as there is any letality, needing it to be above a certain level is sort of... unrealistic :)
I also find it quite anyoing that even if you get your spreading ability back to 0 your disease will still keep spreading like hell, making it impossible to really complete the game unleash you are really lucky. The thing is that not being able to stop your disease from spreading means you wont be able get your profile back to low enough for countries to start opening thenselves again. Also I see no reason to have the time be "real time"... just having a button to pass a day would be a lot faster...

I think that if the game designers had made the penalties for selling your Mutations a little less onerous, it would have made it a better game, yeah.
And I wish you could buy a Mutation that just killed off, say, 99% of your pathogen one time, to calm things down. As it is, the probability system used means it's largely a matter of luck, once you reach a certain point of exponential growth- there's very little real strategy, when you can kill people with the five lowest level symptoms quite easily, and the more expensive "killers" are so lousy for their total points cost (just getting the Hemorrhage Mutation costs, what, 50 points?) that they're never worth buying.
And I wish that they'd given players real numbers, so that we know why we're being "spotted"- that's meaningful, btw- each "spotting" indicates that your disease did not infect a new nation stealthily, but the game gives you no real indications of how "visible" your outbreak is until the governments start responding rapidly, so it's not very useful.
All that whining aside, this is a really great game design. I rarely bother playing a Flash game more than a few minutes, but I've wasted at least two hours on this one.

Meh cool game but fuck so luck dependent.
Iv tried making lethality very high while spreading low but it was worthless...even though mortality was higher than spreading my home country had hundreds of thousands infected but no deaths while my lethality bar was almost half full.
Too much luck.

Yeah like I said before nobody dies until you get your letality above a certain level, wich is not very low, what is sort of anoying and boring.

this couldve been so good if he hadnt of put the whole non-deaths till certain lethality crap

The problem is just luck and Madagascars one god damn port. I know where to move if there is a disease outbreak (only, $10 its Lemur Pox or something).
+1 to just restarting until you start in Madagascar.
This game could have had real, genuine strategy, giving you more control of who how and where you infect say. As it is, its kinda a screensaver.
