problems with camera view settings

1. Setting camera scroll speeds to 0 in settings does not disable them in game (contrary to what it says).

2. Total War cam scrolls way too slow to be usable even at max (multiply by 3 and I might still set it to max). It rotates too fast for me as well but this isn't such an issue.

0.76b1 running on xp
[10:50:33] <momfreeek> don't think i've ever looked at the sky in spring anyway
[10:50:37] <momfreeek> except by accident
[10:51:02] <[teh]Beherith[PiRO]> everyone uses otacam
[10:51:37] <momfreeek> i'd consider using total war cam.. but it scrolls at the slowest stupid speed its unusable
[10:51:47] <[KnighT]Silent_Paws> hold shift
[10:51:51] <momfreeek> ahh
[10:51:58] <momfreeek> why though?
[10:52:03] <[KnighT]Silent_Paws> I think that makes it go alittle faster
[10:52:06] <momfreeek> i set scroll speed to max
[10:52:14] <momfreeek> why the hell is max so frikkin slow
[10:52:19] <momfreeek> so i have to hold shift
[10:52:19] <[KnighT]Silent_Paws> rofl
[10:52:29] <[teh]Beherith[PiRO]> yeah
[10:52:30] <[teh]Beherith[PiRO]> so true
[10:52:40] <[teh]Beherith[PiRO]> i tried editing the registry value for it
[10:52:44] <[teh]Beherith[PiRO]> but it dont help

spring should have a better camera mode, maybe just copy the c&c3 or other 3D rts game's camera view?

free camera mode :]

and all the modes own imo

spring has some of the best camera controls of any 3d rts ive played seeing as u can quikly change control scheme to suit the situation

OTA view to play
Other views can be played with but i use them mainly for screenshots :p

Or you can quickly change control scheme by accident to completely ruin your game. I had to learn the camera controls only so I could fix them when the screen went crazy (ruined a a few of my first games). Mapping them to the mouse by default is a big problem IMO, default controls should use function keys.

of course.. there isn't much need for the other views when you're just trying to play the game.

In my point of view, except OTA, the other camera mode is no playable.
They scroll too slow,in max speed. Although the can rotate, it rotate too fast. Can't set back to default camera view after changing angles.. Hard to control.

Actually the Rotatable overhead camera is not bad, but need to scroll faster same as to ota and have default camera view that same as the OTA.

incorrect. It says "disable from cycling through", which means you won't get those when hitting Alt+J (or whatever camera cycling is bound to).

I can easily set the scroll speed range for total war camera to [0;400] would that be enough?

edit: i just checked and the behaviour is exactly as described. hitting shift-middle mouse button will only cycle those modes not set to 0 scroll speed

edit2: just so we're all on the same page: current scroll speed ranges are [0;100] for all modes. If that's not what you got, get a newer springsettings from this archive: http://www.springlobby.info/windows/spr ... -win32.zip
(might also need new dll pack: http://www.springlobby.info/windows/dll/dlls.zip)

for example when I am using Rotatable overhead camera, I turned to a very bad angle and want to change it back to default view, can't I just pressing 1 button, without adjusting the angles.

Ah. No, I was using the standard settings.exe from the windows installer (which go from 0-10). TAcam at 60 is much better

so the fix:
- download springlobby (http://www.springlobby.info/windows/spr ... -win32.zip)
- unzip to spring directory
- use the new 'springsettings.exe' to adjust scroll speeds (which now go from 0-100 instead of 0-10)

This still wasn't working. On a hunch, I set them to a positive number.. then back to zero and then they were disabled (not cycled through.. same thing to me). A problem that would only affect new installs it seems.

PS: also I found out by accident that CTRL + scroll wheel changes the viewing angle in otacam. Maybe someone will find this useful.

I've found this out, but sometimes I can't get out of the this.. the viewing angle change mode is all i somehow.. i have to quit game.. stuck in this .. i can change camera modes but the ota mode is stuck in this change viewing angle mode using my middle scroll mouse button..
not sure how i get into this mode.. it would be nice to have a reset button to change back to mode and view that seen when game 1st started.

weird..

The bugs in the other camera views are long overdue for fixing. The Total War scroll speed is a simple bug that has been sitting for way, way too long... and does the rotating overhead camera still center completely wrong (and thus can't be used to view objects near the edge of the map, or with ctrl-C, or any other camera-moving hotkeys)?
