You're right, eurovision is a farce. The songs generally suck to which this year was no exception, and people vote politically rather than based on musical talent, as is evident in how the eastern bloc votes for itself regardless how terrible they are.

its actually gotten better lately, used to be all shite now theres cool and interesting entries, this year being very cool enjoyed many performances

The singing is more painful.

The last time I watched eurovision and enjoyed it was when Finland won in 2006.
Plus, it's statistically rigged. Eastern Europe wins too much. And also, wtf is with all of the not European countries? Azerbaijan? Israel? Since when have they been part of Europe?

Because they are culturally European, despite not being part of geographical Europe. Its also often mooted that Israel may eventually join the EU on the same grounds and that it already fulfills all of the prerequisites for membership (democracy, stable economy, etc...).
