Spring RTS Engine

My computer illiterate gf downloaded tons of random music and such and got pwnd by a virus that changed her screensaver to this (link is not to the virus, its an actual screensaver the virus creator utilized).

If I knew who made it, I'd shake his hand. After a few popups from her crappy antivirus software, 'OMG bugs are coming out of my screen now!!' was priceless.

Even though it looks like windows 95, I figured the screensaver was worth sharing.

Novelty virii are awesome, it's like watching Hackers all over again.

At work someone returned a £3000 Server I had built a few days before, and showed me the very same virus.

Made me lol.

It managed to sneak past a full version of kaspersky, so its either really old, or pretty advanced.

I had the same virus on my computer.

search for "blackie"

or something "black"

and it should show up as a screen saver.. or a .scr executable

delete that and then do some virus scans.

It changed the something called qhosts on my internet so that google and gmail would not come up..

there is a program called Fixqhosts

that might help aswell.

If anything deleting that blackie thingo will stop the screen saver from coming up

Keep the screensaver, kill the rest.

That is amazing, it appears that the bugs are actually leaving patches of shit on the screen. Where can I download this virus?

They're eating, not shitting. They are revealing an image in the background (wonder what it is).

If you just delete the image name of the address you can go to the page of the guy who made it (the screensaver) and download for free. I guess you can set an image for them to reveal/change color/etc... the screenshot actually shows the settings, imagine that .

btw, it turns out the virus was a hardcore oldschool one and it obliterated her hard drive. It chilled for a bit not doing anything besides the loltastic screensaver until it got angry duplicating and screwing with my gf's brain, I didn't bother messing with it and had her switch to a new hard disk I conveniently had to upgrade her comp. No more downloading zip torrents of ancient music...

indeed. I occasionally hear of viruses that can cause actual hardware failure, but 99% of those are actually just user-failure in disguise. Fdisk is your friend.

Yeah, at worst format it... there wasn't one worm I couldn't get rid of in the past 5 years and my mom had a lot.

lol ya I could definitely get rid of it but the hard drive is for dell laptops and I can't use it anymore anyway so meh. Theres no way in hell it actually caused hardware failure, it's just really annoying and I'm lazy .

some 14 years ago, on highschool, I coded some mostly harmelss viruses too, one which I liked most was eating dots :)

Whenever you typed "." head appeared, rushed towards it, devoured your dot and quickly run away..
(You could still make dots with numpad though)

question; why has nobody ever made a virus that just overclocks your GPU and CPU? It couldnt be that hardd to do and it would insta toast your hardware.

Missuse of a Virus...

Just take a Trojan (Sub7) to school, load it up, check your little backdoor and once the day is done you can use the server to host Games...

Because it would be specific to one model or series of motherboards, and either have to modify the bios or somehow interface with irritating motherboard software

Plus most overclockable-by-default-in-software things have built in thermal shutdown. So more likey your PC would just keep freezing.
