WAV vehicle idea, can it work?

WAV stands for Weapon Amplification Vehicle
ok, if you put an infantry, limit 1 guy, into it (Lv1 kbots included) the weapon will change to an advanced version of that weapon.
e.g. puting a Rocko into it will turn it into a missle launcher vehicle.
can this work? Lua perhaps?

Lua, definately. Not even hard to code, on the Lua side. Be a royal pain to do the actual unit / animation side of this, though, and not have it look terrible, imo.

You can also do it with pure FBI, with the isfireplatform=1; tag.
You can also do it with pure bos/cob, like on my
ArmDuck.ufo
Actually LUA would be the most complicated way to do it.

Yeah, it's perfectly possible by bos/cob script. You can get the unit's height to determine what unit's been loaded (though I think there may be a new get thing for the IDs of transported units - height's the way it was done in OTA) and switch between weapons 1-16 accordingly

Plus, opposing players might see the name, and think wav = music, and it's actually a propoganda vehicle, and ignore it, until it STARTS FIRING LAZERS AT THEM!
...

We have something like this already working in IW.
The
Imperial APC has a mounted repeater blaster - but it won't fire this until it has at least one unit loaded. This is because we want to provide the APC early in the game for the imperials to use for mobility, and it needs reasonable armour to protect it's troops - but it isn't meant to be a combat vehicle. So if you have guys loaded it can protect itself, but is unlikely to end up being used as a low-level tank.

what about a you have a unit that puts out a field. Any units within this field get upgraded capabilities.
That sounds like a very ARM thing.

Not a lot to do with WAVs, but that's also possible. Hell, it was possible in good old OTA (though in much hackier way).

Yeah, the Jedi in SWTA used to give all infantry around them health increases (as if they were being 'commanded' to fight better)

It was pretty much working, really. Needed another 10% polish, but otherwise it was done.
Oh well, Spring killed it
