Spring (Wiki) Cleaning

Post by Sertse »

This thread is to discuss cleaning up the Spring Wiki, recognising it is very ad hoc in places.

Suggestion: Could a new forum be set for discussing Spring Wiki? Somewhere to discuss/canvas opinion about changes made in the Wiki, and/or draw the community's attention to particular pages that need fixing...

Seeing as people actually read the forums here, compared to the "discuss this page" page for each page of the wiki,it might help bring some life to this aspect of the site.

I also note all other "projects" in this site, e.g. Engine/AI/Lua, Mod/Model and Map development all have their own forum sections.

Personally, I intend to trawl through the Wiki in the next couple of weeks or months; updating things to the current environment, and removing unprofessional language/rewriting. Eventually so the whole thing is consistent and it flows. I'm (personally) am mainly looking at the general/player pages since I know nothing about development. More updates when I get to it, I see some section would need community input.

you could borrow AFs new site as a fresh start, only moving over what is necessary and has been updated... it would be an odd idea to start a new forum for the official Wiki on a 3rd party forum, just make threads as (Wiki) or something.

edit: sorry misread... not sure we need a whole subforum either.

except for the fact that no one looks at them, since no one can stand the wiki...

Maybe once the (new) site gets done more people will start using the wiki, and it'll actually start being a wiki instead of a page everyone can contribute to but no one can stand...

I can stand it but I have no time for it.

thing is you could also add a wiki page for the organization of the wiki. that way OTHERS can add to the list of pages updated etc.
