Hello, I am having a bizarre issue. When I am playing TA (Balanced Annihilation 5.8 ) and I que-up a build order using the shift key, all icons and and general game boxes disappear including the cursor. If I hit and hold the shift key everything comes back, but as soon as I let go of the shift key---- the cursor and icons are gone again.
My conditions:
OS-------------Windows Vista 32x
G Card--------ATI Radeon X1950 Pro (updated drivers)
Processor-----Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 3.00 GHz
Ram-----------3gb
Also, I am anticipating responses to this post to quickly point to Vista as the problem, and while I hate Vista as well, TA has been working fine for me with vista for quite a while before this glitch happened, so I don't think this is the issue. Anyways, if there is any brilliant person out there that may have an answer to this weird problem, I would be eternally grateful as I am currently unable to play TA.

I have the same problem like mentioned in:
problems started with catalyst 7.11, although I had some crashes with catalyst 7.10 also
to produce the error, just press shift a lot of times while queing and it will start to glitch

My stuff: Windows Vista, ATI Radeon 1300, newest drivers
When I give orders while holding shift and then move the screen, Textures, text, overlay disappear
Funny thing is that when I have a unit select AND it has an action que AND I hold shift then I see above again. While when I release shift all dissapears again.
BTW this problem started when I updated ATI drivers.....
Anyone has an idea?

I approve this bug.
My system is Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy with Catalyst 7.11 for Linux (Radeon X700).
Any solutions here?

Re: Shift key issue
Just tested with Catalyst 8.1 for Linux.
All the same.
This bug is very determined for being just driver-side bug. It happens only on shift key and only when unit selected. I think that is something in spring code, which responsible for drawing UI.

Re: Shift key issue
With old fglrx 8.42.3 drivers there is no luck too. But. Previous version of spring (0.75b2) does not have this bug. I played it on this drivers very well.
Is this bug solved in SVN version?
Want to hear any developer opinion about that. :)

Re: Shift key issue
For Linux - it's not. I've tried that before. Nor with earler driver (fglrx 8.42.3), which was released before Catalyst 7.11 for Linux.marcp wrote: i've downgraded my display driver and that's works now!

But, after many manipulations with spring settings, probably I found a good configuration. I attached my ".springrc" file (renamed to springrc.txt).
It works for me with Catalyst 8.1 and 8.2 for Linux.
Does it helps anyone else?

Re: Shift key issue
had the same problem. after diffing with your .springrc i chhanged the following values (i guess the alttab-fix fixed the shift-issue, but im not sure)
like i saw it in you file. now everything works fine (up to now) with version 8.3 of the ati-driver.
so thanks for your config-file
Code: Select all
FixAltTab=1
SmoothLines=1
SmoothPoints=1
so thanks for your config-file

Re: Shift key issue
I had the same problem. The problem was not solved by only turning on the "Alt+Tab" fix. I also needed to enable SmoothPoints and SmoothLines and the problem was gone. I am on a Vista64 os with a ATI radeon X1300 graphic card.
