Attacks on new players

Just thought Id add my 2cents worth.
I read the previous thread on this topic and thought you might like to hear from a 'noob' it is what i am often called during most games and not in any friendly kind of manner.
I happen to think this game is the BEST RTS game ever and the Spring crowd have excelled in taking it to the next level.
One of the reasons this is such a great game (SpringTA) is that this game has been under constant development (still is) By Gamers for Gamers.
The fact that it is open source makes it unique and we probably wont ever have a game like it EVER. Since software houses are unlikely to ever let this happen again.
BUT regards the community which is the real heart and soul of the game that has a real possibilty of dying. It is upto people who care about this community to guard it, ang guard it with a passion.
The only way it will survive is if new people "noobs" if you prefer are given "special" treatment that is ...
Dont flame them just because they weakened your side and you
because you wernt good enough.
The game is autobalanced at start but not perfect since many players smurf it.
If you recognise that a low ranked player is new then offer advice NOT abuse.
DONT forget He may not take your advice
When I first started playing I was to busy trying to figure out what i was doing with my units and missed many comments posted to me in game!!
Also the new player may just not be able to follow your advice because of lack of knowledge of UI.
AGAIN if you recognise that the new player is a "noob" it is up to YOU and the rest of the better players to cover his ass.
Remember in theory the other side has a noob or two
If you play two sides then you are on a team the side which acts as a team has a greater chance of winning, so protect your noob you will probably spread quicker than him and so gain the metal down the field.
And definitely DONT Comnap to "teach him a lesson"
This will not teach him any good lesson apart from...
'I wont be playing this game again anytime soon'
Also there are already many ways to keep out people from your game
Dont use those features to block out newbies
Again if a newbie does come along but cant get a game because everyone is expelling him guess what he will go away and wont come back = community is dying
We all need to learn and it has already been mentioned this game does have a tough learning curve.
PLUS newbies do add a kind of random element to a game that enriches it.
I will say it again better players ought to be able to compensate and protect weaker elements on the team.
A good player is able to adapt to take off his blinkers and lay down a game plan if it means he is going to loose a flank.
This game is the best thing that happened to RTS some of you are taking it for granted and if you continue YOU WILL BE SORRY
this scenario will not happen again there wont be another "SPRINGTA"
