I have made some "plasma effect", i was thinking where i possibly could use that awesome effect?

Maybe a shield texture?
I can make it seamless texture animation too, if needed.
Colors can be changed by 256 sized palet, and it repeats 256 frames.
Animating with graphics cards is quite a job, takes lots of mem, but its possible to fit 128x128 animating texture with 256 frames to 2048x2048 image, so it could be animated by changing the texture coordinates. 16megs mem takes that, if used 32 bits colors (which they only uses atm?).

then he should go do that and then show a video. I have seen this effect for years and years and it was in a lot of game programing pages but frankly I have never seen a good use for it.

Where have you seen it? I have tried to find similar animation effects, but failed.

There was one site "biggins game programing page" that had all kinds of variants of this code. There were a few others but that was the one site that I still remember

I've seen similar animated textures on games from the (N64?) onward - they always remind me of visualizations from WinAmp and other popular media players.

I didnt copy that code from anywhere else than my own head, so its not same code, and which is also why i would like to see if anyone else made such effect too

I tried to find the old site for you, he had some really clever stuff, damn shame really. You would have liked his other stuff.

Lack of screenshots and movies makes AF cry

How about dropping it in the widgets folder, takes less than a minute to do.
This is the same effect, just needs a different texture. Of course it's fluid, cba to take thousands of screenshots. :P

No, its not the same effect. Thats just basic palet animating.

hot plasma effect would look cool in an open-toped energy storage.
