Does anyone actually use 800 x 600?

do people still use this as their normal desktop res?
also, does anyone know if its possible to detect this with javascript?

I set ti on my parents PC as its on crappy itnegrated and some uni PCs revert to 800x600 although theyre usually at 1024xetc..
The 2 column on either side of the UF layout, if you took one of them and moved its contents somewhere else on 800x600 then that would help a lot.

someone can do it with the template files and make their own theme, i like the 2 column layout myself :)

you're not going to see a lot of 800x600. You'll see everything upwards, starting from 1024x768 in all configurations (widescreen, dual, triple, whatever) and, as portables become more and more popular, resolutions of 400x300, 320x200, etc. See iPhone and its clones.

screw iphones, unless someone wants to make spring work on iphone i dont think people will need to go on UF with one

There's a way to detect the screen resolution using DHTML, I think. Check dynamicdrive.

I voted yes, not because I ever use that res, but because I don't always browse maximized so i like pages that shrink gracefully.

Looks like ~1 out of 5 people still use it. I wouldn't use it as a desktop res, but I've been known to drop that low for some games on my laptop.
