Selection of players by spectator enhancement

I could be totally wrong, but my understanding is that the only way to select a player while a spectator is by selecting the number that is the players number + 1.
The first issue is that this is just weird, and counter-intuitive.
The second issue with this is that you cannot select players that have a number larger than 8.
Now there may be some way to select players with numbers that are larger than 8, but I suspect it would be as counter-intuitive as the current player selection process.
The third observation is that when you have a player selected, and you press L, it's not obvious what they can see via radar, would be nice to see the radar overlayed for the selected player. maybe a mode to hide all non visible objects. this may be already available and I'm just not aware of the key combination to enact such a feature.
Now I do know that there is some Lua that allows you to see multiple player economy at the same time, however I would have thought this should be something sorted out within spring, not via a Lua.
Btw, I'm happy to contribute if people what another coder, though I'm a tad rusty on my c++ as it's been a fair few years.
