Messing with the gamespeeds

Ingame one time, we agree'd it should display who changes the game speeds. It allows us to pick out the noobs that want to ruin the game for everyone.

You could just use the .setminspeed and .setmaxspeed commands....

What if the host is afk whilst hosting/speccing or a bot? :]
Besides we'd love to know who these noobs are so we can give them a bad name and then we'd know who messes around...
and besides if they know they're going to get caught and kicked from the game, then they won't do it and so these things won't continue.

Why not just tick the little "Lock game speed" checkbox?

Bots generally have locked speed, do they not?

moved to feature requests

I've implemented this request, IMO it is
useful information (much like knowing
who paused the game). If you want to
prevent "noobs" from messing with the
speed though, just lock it.

Kloot, you are a rockprogrammer god- or, well, a good person nonetheless.

Yes, but you can't play on the primary lobby server. See Test server topic on the development forum.

Why not add gamespeed change like it's in Defcon(Introversion nuke game)! In Defcon game speed only takes effect if all players agree(by changin game speed higher 2x/3x/4x times(Specs should be ignored)), so the game is not faster than players with the slowest game speed set. Problem that spring can have slower than 1.0 game speed!!

I've found a lot of hosts don't do this. I have a bad habit of forgetting to set it.
To me it would be more consistent with how pause works, which displays who paused and who unpaused the game. One would expect consistency with messages in the chat box for messages that affect the game play.

That would take the fun out of spec mode

Right now the colour of the player is what colour the drawing is done in, which means you know who did it. the only exception is spectators, which draws in the colour of the player they have selected.
I believe the OP is more focused on the messages in the chat pane and identifying the source of the said messages, specifically messages that are triggered by a player that rename anonymous but affect the game play, e.g. changing the speed of the game.
Hmm... spectators can change the speed of the game, which is obviously needed for watching a replay, but should they be able to for a live game?

Well some games have like 10 spectators and then one fool starts coloring the whole map.... kinda annoying :)

I agree, it is very annoying. Also annoying if a team mate starts colouring... but generally it's uncommon. My only concern would be if doing something like that would cause lag. Totally subjective but I could swear if a player decides to go on a drawing rampage then lag occurs. of course i could be totally wrong.
