Compilation of Extra Extra Large Maps

Hurrah first post! Alright... anyway
I've been developing a certain map ( i9.tinypic.com/6bdrmls.png ), and decided it would be a 64x64 map.
However, I've run into a number of problems.
- Photoshop won't save the texture map (which is rediculously huge.
) as a jpg or bmp. Every other graphics editing program I've tried hasn't even gotten as far as opening up the 3gb texture map (it's in tiff format). Image Converter programs freeze too.
- Mother's compiler isn't compatible with .tiff
Now, I've read on these message boards that someone managed to make a 64x64 map, and that someone used a tiff texture map. However, I couldn't find anything in the forums that said anything about how this someone managed to compile the map. Anyone want to enlighten me? >_>
[EDIT]: On a side note, I could use a name for the map too. Everything I've come up with is cheesy.
