More realistic water

Ok, noize and I were talking. now, springs water is nice, it reminds me of many peaceful lakes and bayous around my home. However, winds, currents and other factors.
what we have looks like:
that is nice and very pretty to me.
however larger bodies of water are more active. with currents and winds:
Open ocean actually looks like 2 bumpmaps moving across eachother with overlay blend at opposite angles.
so it is possible to add a tag to the maps
bump1=texturename.extension;
bump2=texturename.extension;
have those scroll opposite each other to produce an ocean look?
or can someone write a lua script for this?

imo this could well be done via lua to augment the existing renderers, by rendering a quad slightly above and below the water plane, then applying bumpmapping sfx to them, scrolling the texture over time, perhaps at varying speeds. Combined with rfractive and reflective effects it would look a lot more relalistic all combined together.

If there is any way we can bribe you into doing more work for Spring during OSRTS/Command slow periods, I'm sure NOiZE would be alright with that. Then again, nothing he plays uses any advanced features, if I recall.

That was why I hate all "river" maps..
NO MOVING WATER!!!
It's not a river if it's not moving >___<

Is dynamic ship orientation doable? Like, have the dynamic water shader looking not so crappy, allow it to have some sort of movement thingy, then allowing ship orientation to follow water moving around?
