Supcom with a video card under $75...less likely than you think!

If you want supcom then youll want a 7xxx series card.
These cards arent going to be cheap for agp as the rise of PCI-E is pushing their prices up.
The Geforce 7900 is the best your going to get with AGP and even then you wont get the full grunt out of it because of that AGP bottleneck.
However, your mobos so old it has n AGP slot, I doubt the rest of the stuff can support supcom even with a mobo upgrade.
And it sounds like an old mobo too if it had a GF 5500 in it.
Your trying to run a modern game on hardware that was midclass 7 years ago. It will need nothing less than a complete overhaul. Buying a new computer would be a far better idea, because even if you got a 7900 AGP in there, it still wouldnt have the grunt to run supcom.

If you don't know what your talking about, then don't answer

AF does know what he is talking about.
It is difficult for me to run Supreme Commander with a 7600 Go - something which your board may not even be able to support. What is your motherboard, and what slots do you have available?

I think your best bet would be to give a psychic the 75$ to beam magic into your current card.

I've been poking around, and even with a top of the line 7XXX GeForce with some overclocking, you're just not going to handle high settings, and should have issues with medium - and that card would be far outside your price range. You say you have $75? You should wait until you have enough to get a new machine at this point, don't know what else to tell you...

On low settings with an AGP ( which already is slow ) with a 75 dollar budget, running supcom would be way too much of a slide show. At the same time your CPU wouldnt be any good either considering its on an old mobo that doesn't even have a PCI-E slot.
EVGA 7600GS is probably the best you can get. Can anyone link me to this '7900' 'AGP'? 7900GS is PCI-E.

The 7900 and other top end AGP cards were all limited edition cards. Most manufacturers are winding down production of what AGP cards they still make, and the AGP cards on sale are mostly left over stock and reserves for old PCs.
The time has come when the cheapest PCI-E card is cheaper and faster than the cheapest AGP card. Anyone with any sense buys a PCI-E motherboard, and if you dont have a PCI-E motherboard then dont think about running games released in 2007 or beyond at anything but the minimum specs, you wont even get a decent framerate. AGP architecture is far behind what GF8 and r600 class gpus can do, and AGP mobos are deadweight compared to the equivilant technolgoy in newer mobos.

I was thinking about a 6800

youll just get the same results but maybe at 2 fps not 1fps

You also need to take into account that Supcom is very CPU intensive, and that your existing hardware might bottleneck anything new.

I have a 3.2 ghz motherboard and 1.2 gb ram
lol How old do you think AGP's are?
