I don't really see what the fuss is about.
If you don't like a mod, you can make as much forks as you want. That doesn't need to come with insults to the original mod.
Also, I find the spring community reather bulky. To get them from playing a mod is really hard. Most mods dont'get the attention they should. People play a mod, becouese many people play that mod. They do that, becouse many people play that mod, and so on.
(btw, the golden age of AA was right before the flash OPness, while the bears could still capture enemy comms. which is around v1.40 or so.)

Possibly restart the number count and change the name slightly ("Nixa's Absolute Annihilation"?) would be the most reasonable.
