Well, there's a lot of surveys, that's from the lowest range of the estimates and the highest are around that 1 mil mark. I cba to do research about who seems most legit though, truth is somewhere in the middle probably.

Don't forget that the majority of those "Civilians" were holding ak-47's. Just because they weren't wearing any sort of military garb doesn't make them civilians.

1 million people is a very significant portion of iraqi population. Idiots such as yourself likes to spout BS and such like non-meaningful numbers. All of a sudden when someone shows meaning and puts a spotlight on your BS, you look like an idiot (in the US, a.k.a. Liberal).

On a serious note, it's worth pointing out that the vast majority of civilians killed (somewhere around 50k) were as a direct result of IED's or Insurgents.
Also, this is a good read:

it is true that there are legit sources claiming 1 million...and if it is true, it was not all done by american troops...the conflic started by america and the centeral goverment's removal(done by amercia) started the inner-iraq conflict that is resposible for alot of the deaths, let us not forget that iraq is a synthesized nation by britain made from diffrent pieces(and diffrent arabic tribs hostile to one and the other, actually people familiar to arabic culture know how tribe centered it is)...sadam hussain keept it together(with an iron fist)...you all remeber all the shit bout iraq being in a civil war a while back in the news????and how the media was all "like lets not do anything about it and let them just fight each other"?
people who accuse me of rhetoric should look at their own posts...or the media they watch
and am i wronge, did any of you "true" americans complain about all the human casualties???oh wait you just complained about the few thousand american deaths........
and yes forb that is very very significant

Legit sources??? Name one.
You freaking snake! Saying something like that and then trying to weasel out of it by redirecting conversation!
You said 1 million. Actual data says... oh hay, wait I have it right here:

I don't even watch tv. What tv shows I do watch, I grab from tpb or icefilms. News I either get on the internet (written), or via the radio.
Don't try to redirect conversation to cover up your BS, and don't piss on my shoes and tell me it's raining.

so.. ~100k deaths *recorded* by the US military
world health organisation survey:
104,000 to 223,000 *due to violence*
other surveys of the affected mortality rate
~500k to 1m+
seems realistic factoring in poverty & disease.. I guess?

The idea of the more expansive death-rate studies is to compare the death-rate *before* the war vs. the death rate *during and after* the war.
Alternately, there was a study that went by interviews and statistical analysis rather than precise counts that came up with a six-figure number back when the official count was like 25,000.

I am the only one who said it at least have the testicular fortitude to call out my name. You said millions bro, it is there for all to see
I don't often watch the news on that region but when I do I watch AJE, which would imply a different bias altogether. Btw my college mentor was a Lebanese Muslim, just sayin'. You need to realize that there are Americans, good ones who also hail from all over. It is kinda what being American is about, being a big mixing pot. So take you idiotic assertions about "true Americans" elsewhere. True Americans are the native americans, just sayin. Now modern americans love diversity and are a mongrel nation.

So a country goes to war, occupies a country, and then starts bitching why people are trying to kill them with bombs and ak's, instead of welcoming them with flowers and open arms?
Gee, we really have to wonder at this for a bit

Some of those who died also lived in the same iraqui city as they guys with the ak47. Now lets shell LA for the Rednecks some miles beyond.
Its all funny and games, until you apply the same faulty logic to americans. Then suddenly its (d)evil(l)...
Srsly, can we just stop pretending military ever produced some gain? Its big investments, with zero return, almost always, if not used in defense.
Iraq war was useless, the thousand and one side were as bad and evil, as the invading us-forces, and there staying afterwards was only to secure that no civil war would come of this. Also, looking at the budget of us&a, this was the last intervention, so for the next shoutmatches, lets practice:
"China took my tibet."
-This is against the law, you are coming with me, citizen-
Red Firewall Moderation
"Russia raped my oilpipelines."
-Thats it, no more warm winters mr.woefull, no more nice mr.price-
-RussianFederationModeration-
"Sandfigures."

@smoth: there are many good people on america, it is just the dominating patriotic narrative that i despise... by "true" american i mean the patriotic narrative that is sold to us on the tv/media....and i said a(1) million, not millions
to repeat my point:
most of the killing was done by the iraqs killing eachother becasue america removed the centeral governemnt(tribal warfair).......looking at the reported kills by america troops(which is still a lot) is missing the point

smoth's likes to think that the vocal minority is not representative of the general population... I don't agree with him, at least in Canada the following seems to be the problem:
Left Circle: People who Vote
Right Circle: People who agree with you
What People Assume The Day Before the Election:

"Everybody go out and do your patriotic duty and vote!"
What Actually is the Case (thanks to the fine granularity of Canadian election results:

"OMG why are stupid people allowed to vote!!!"
Namely that everyone is stupid but me and my friends and the right-minded people who agree with me. The problem isn't that people don't vote... it's that a large %age of the population are truely duped and deluded by whatever crap is being told to them by whichever government official is willing to use public funds and kowtow to corporate overlords... okay... I've lost track of my train of thought... the problem, as I see it, is that smoth is in the minority of Americans.
