We would not run a lobby with admin rights, would we?

edit: warning, this post contains irony!

You may have missed the fact that an unedited tasclient has a manifest requiring you to run it as admin so that it can write to program files.

I think Satirik was planning to leave outta here for a long time before this happened, since he wanted me to learn delphi and take over lobby development, but i was too lazy, he really tried... but you know lazy ass is a lazy ass. (plus i didnt want same fate as Satirik, being bothered all day =D).

I would say hes not coming back because we whined too much. But yeah, what else can you get than a whine if his answers arent the most polite ones.

He just got pissed off about us... we never said thanks to him

So, you're saying it would correct for, let's say, Smoth or Argh or Fanger to find a way to make their mod display insults and render Spring unusable just because they were disrespected?
he just switched his lobby to another one, thats all. no insults nothing destroyed. its not nice for us, having to change the file back but its no great effort. and yes if argh or smoth dont want to continue their mods noone can say anything against it.

Switching the lobby was obviously meant to cause problems for users (and maybe SpringLobby devs) though, so his actions really aren't defendable.

Woo hoo my name gets thrown around, worry not I would NEVER violate the trust of the gundam players by putting something in gundam to mess them over.

caldera what they are talking about is when satirik got pissed off over something then decided to include easter egg crashes for his own personal amusement. On an application that hundreds of users are trusting it is pretty concerning. TASClient had full permission to fuck your shit up when it was running and effectively gave him a way to directly attack people through it. I am not saying satirik would be the kind of guy to abuse that trust so far as to do truly malicious things but his attitude was questionable as of late.

The attitude in question is a bad one.

I am happy the switch was made, sl has some bugs and I trust the sl team to fix them. Beyond the initial hickups the change is for the better.

I have issues believing that he was intentionally trying to screw everyone over. I mean if it had been done correctly, outside of minor things would anyone have screamed and complained? I kinda doubt it.

No one would be complaining if he did it correctly, and he most likely knew how to, but he chose to not do it correctly. There really isn't much logical reasons for that choice other than intentionally trying to screw people over.

Whoa, so that's what happened. I'd assumed the jump was some poorly-planned switchover... not Satirik throwing a fit.

Who peed in his Cheerios?

I don't care I welcomed the change. I am more than happy to see tasclient go fuck off somewhere.

Well, I disagree, TASClient feels more cozy and easier to use. And it's not just because of habit, it's just the usual problem of linuxy open source apps having horrible GUI where you have to look for hours for any functionality that finds itself immediatly under the mouse pointer in the Windows app they copied.

So I'll stick to TASClient as long as I can, and will hope someone else will took over maintaining it. I'm just a little worried about whether there's any other easter egg or backdoor still left in it, as I use it in the KP installer and wouldn't want to be telling people to install and run code that would be malicious.

Thing is the devs are open to suggestion. Tell them where they can fix the ui. It also isn't closed source or at the whim of someone who will abuse the trust given.

Well, most of it is just an overall feeling, I can't just post: "current GUI is giving me bad vibe, please redo everything again and again until I am pleased". By trying hard, I could break it into tangible elements then suggest them. But first I'm checking on what happens to the one ticket I submited 6 weeks ago to see if they would be listening to my whims. :P

Also, TASClient was fine, reinventing the wheel over and over is just wastage.

I heard TASClient source isn't that closed, links to source code few days old were posted in that thread.

But it's very hard to compile it.

nah tasclient has low maintainability and uses a language no one likes.

Also I get to do this in sl

http://spring.clan-sy.com/websvn/log.ph ... =0&isdir=1 ? did anyone order some sauce with their TASclient.

I love satrik, and i find SL way to bile yellow, which hurts my eyes beyond reason.

I'm going to upload 0.45 of tasclient for anyone who wants version of taclient which isn't buggy and a version before the annoying news bar.
