This is even potentailly cheatable. What about player hosts who write comsharing bots who's soul purpouse is to FPS mode units that the player selects in heated battles.

Easily catchable, but still just as lame.

I don't think that would be possible with Spring's engine - you only get one POV. If we're talking an AI on the side of our cheat, I'm not sure if AIs can FPS either.

And it would be easily detectable, supposing someone got it to work. We'd all notice the flag blurring around the map.

Why not have a switch in TASClient to disable AI FPSing, if anyone does get it to work? I'm sorry, but I just don't see your point here. If you don't like the idea I don't have a problem with that, but it looks like you're going all guns to kill it. I don't see how that's right.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post. The messageboard went bork on me...

Also, wouldn't the INFPSMODE flagger thing (The glowy flaggy thing...) kinda render the cheating in that way useless. In 1v1, if your opponent sends 50 FPSed units at you, you know something is up....

...And boom! The player is on the Player Badlist, possibly with an IP ban on top. That's half the reason I suggested a flagger in the first place.

blah blah blah.. (so much trouble bc of thosee increased stats some of you want).

was thinking about this thread, and... got to the conclution...

The robots in TA dont have any fisical "space" for holding a human passenger, thus any cockpit in that fiction is wrong.

And speaking of future robots.. its not much likelly those will not "need" any passenger...

Altougth, in some other fiction may fit ok.

its more like a FPS fiction than a "mech driving" fiction.. argh..

Also the pilots woulden BE in the robots too, they would be commanding it from a distant, underground, heavly armoured and shilded nuklear bunker.

Havent you guys played Orginal War? That was a funny RTS. One solder could command up to...eight vehicals with radio controll towers. It allowed you to level up your mechanins really really fast!

In a world where the enemy is electronic and can move from machien to machine instead of being stuck in a body, I doubt the arm are willing to let their machines have an open interface to core signals. The security implications of a sentient program battering at your network itnerface for flaws are astounding.

Besides soemthign mroe like what the borg in ST do with their nano probes to make implants and make the drones run off of the ships pwoer instead of food and drink, and eliminate the need for breathing. Somehtign like that is mor likely what is happening, cosndiereingthe mech tiself is amde of nanites.

Ever see the ST voyager episode where some of sevens nanites got out by accident, took some random human dna it came across and made a borg maturation chamber using the technology it found in its surroundings and the raw materials? I doubt arma dn core would ahve used nanites for so logn withotu generatign such a technology.

On the question of scale, a Peewee is as big as a car on its back.

In the TA manual, Arm responded to Core with mass cloning. However, Alantai, I have serious questions regarding your ST scenario - gameplay would be very different if these nanites were capable of such things.

mongus is right, Experience is really the best way to have better units in FPS mode, don't increase stats while in FPS mode.

Maybe make the script know when FPS is active, if active, modders could add armoredstate to a unit and increase speed and such.

Swift, please don't be so...insulting, the TA community is nothing like the CS community where you have to be insulting all the time...use more subtle words ;)

But they make me so mad

I have nothing against new features, but I don't like them forced on me.

I'm thinking that gameplay wouldnt change.

You know where you have a big building and this takes palce hudnreds fo times a day.

Maybe we could call these buildings Arm Factories, and shipyards, and platforms?

As said some times ago, you should be able to FPSes mexxes to boost your metal production, and to FPSes solars to play "catch the photon". It would add alot to the game if players are forced to fist person spin their mexxes to get an advantage.

If you give the Mex's a weapon you can posses them, I've been doing this to fly scout planes just for fun :P
