why not make the krogoth a bit weaker.

There are other ways of balancing without weakening the Krogoth or by making counter units, although vulnerability to BLOD is worth considering.

Longer build time.
High energy requirement for movement.
Very weak gantry.

Good Counter, Make Core Reactors and Metal Makers have fewer hit-points and bigger explosions... making raids more effective when trying to detroy a Krog producing economy...

And any other unit for that matter. We need to stop the krogoth, not all units there is.

Besides, this still dosen't stop the krogoth once it's finsihed..

doesn't it already draw lot's of energy to attack? instead of killing the krog, you block him up with DTs and take your forces round the back to take out his source of energy

GZ, an Arm tank with the Core cow-looking camo textures? Silly :P

I agree with Kixxe. Don't just go adding units willy-nilly, that's not the way to go about it. There is already an abundant resource of units available to tweak.

The best bet would be to give the Krogoth a couple thousand less HP, and give the Shooter and Raven (I say that because it really seems like it'd fit the anti-Krog role very well) units a bigger bonus against Krogs.

As it is now, due to the way the SYs have their armor.txt set up, the shooters don't even do their built in damage bonus to Krogs at all, now that I think about it... nor does anything else. They only have planes and mines specified in their Armor file.

Oooh... Why don't we just give Krogoths to the ARM instead then?

I like that idea makes things interesting beause almost everything Core has in supiour to Arm Like stronger land units Mostly Lvl2 and stronger Navel.

I still think it would be more fun to give arm a couter unit for the krogath.

but thats just my opinion

Krogs take about the same energy to maintain in combat as goli's do. If not less.

FALSE

1 krogg drains 31k energy in 50 s

1 goll drains 31k energy in 1:56 min

energy consumption
1 krogg = 2+ gollies

Hi

I put my first version of my rebalancemod online for free testing. If you dont like the actual balance of XTA or just wanna try something else give it a chance and make some games. I need more suggestions or infos when some units are still over/underpowered.
In the first Version i changed nearly only level 2 and 3 Units or buildings (sure some exceptions)

thx

Well, if we assume that the Arm and Core are derived from humans in the first place, we know that the Arm are indeed humans, and that a humanoid layout would make sense...

And... give the Krog itself to the Arm? Heresy! Absolute heresy!

Heh, the camo I picked for that tank were from the original to keep the feeling of the old predator which is one of my earliest units.

I could go with Arm's bland desert camo as well if you like ;)

Yes.

Even if a skilled core commander should be able to ward flash tanks off, and and then get a huge advantge is the late game, it's still stupid.
Why?

Since everyone will offcourse pick arm and rush since that is the esayest. If you have 2 players of eqwal skill but diffrent races, it shoud't mean that the other one wins just because he choose that race. Plus, you can choose less. If your arm, you rush. If your core, you defend. NO, if your arm, you do WTF you want, and can still win. You can porc, you can play defencive and expand, you can build gunships, you can have your ally protect you while you rush to leve 2....

As i see it, we have 2 choices:
1:We can build a anti-unit for arm, that can be usefull agsint more then one unit type. Put krogoths in a type, and make a anti-whatever towards that type. For example, put it in to the Slow type and make a wepon with low targeting speed but hig damage.
2: We lower the krogoths overall health untill it's beatebole and still worth the cash, meaning you have to combine krogoths and other units to win a game.

Oh, and i've seen krogoths ONCE outside a metal map. it was on redhaven where a guy did'nt build ANY defences at all almost and almost got owend bye a bulldog attack got out 1 krogoth... and then 2 more later.
I've done quick krogoth in a few games. Had my ally porc up front and then just pushed kroggies out in back, often I'll do it after an AK or piro rush which are just cheap enough to not seriously impede your late game build. A small AK swarm is acctually really good defence as well, and if you just kindof casually build 2-3 dozen of them in the beginning of the game, chances are your opponent will see them and immidiately draw porc lines (I've seen it happen several times) which usually means you just get the rest of the map.
